Yikes, did Niantic even still receive any money for those since 2020?
I would not at all be surprised to learn that Niantic has continued to receive money for them & that T-Mobile has dutifully paid the bill without figuring out what it’s actually for.
Yeah at big companies stuff can get lost…
Maybe they’ll re-brand the sprint sponsored stuff to T-Mobile then
I have successfully moved a sponsor wayspot – the method was to report it directly to the sponsor’s customer service via email, and the change was completed in about a few days. Lol
What kind of sponsored location was it, if you don’t mind sharing?
None of the Sprint stores in my area that became T-Mobile stores still have sponsored stops. It seems that T-Mobile, when they took over, decided not to fully continue the sponsorship, but not all of the stops were removed.
It may be possible to contact T-Mobile about these still existing stops, but most likely their customer service would have no idea what we’re talking about, so I find it hard to get ahold of someone there to have a sponsored stop removed. I used to work customer service for online companies, and we are not told everything about how to do certain things with the company.
What are the proper drop-down menu options to pick on that form when reporting sponsored locations?
I have a Gamestop store that closed some time in 2020/2021 and it’s still a vacant storefront. There’s Google Streetview imagery showing it’s vacant, there’s Cyclomedia imagery showing it’s vacant, and Gamestop’s own website doesn’t list this location anymore…
Just fill it out as close as possible, what matters most is the content in your explanation and less the drop down choices.
Or maybe a Scaniverse of the closed store front?
Thats not gonna matter, whats gonna matter is if Gamestop cooperates… Starbucks never has… and well Sprint?.. lmao
Like others have noted, it’s hard to get sponsored Wayspots removed. Some have reported ones for removal years ago, and nothing has been done by Niantic. Another noted that they had to contact the business sponsoring the Wayspot, and action was later taken.
I think in the case of sponsored Wayspots, it may be bet to use the Wayspot Removals link at the top of the forums, as well as contact the sponsor about it. Most businesses have a general customer service, but they may have a marketing department that has separate contact info that can be found with an online search.
Just doing an online search for Gamestop’s marketing department, the Media department appears to handle anything marketing-related. Here’s the contact info:
- Phone: (817) 424-2001
- Email: media@gamestop.com
It’s not going to hurt to contact Gamestop directly, especially with the history of Niantic taking their sweet time fixing or removing sponsors spots.
