That isnt reviewing to criteria though… rejecting for one spelling mistake isnt correct and shouldnt be the rejection reason you choose.

If some people do that, which is a strong probability, but don’t post on this forum about it, what would you do in response?

Would you tell them they are doing the wrong thing (not possible), or do what @TheDoctorBird did and try to work out what is happening and why, then accommodate it whilst trying to spread the message that single spelling mistakes are not a reason for rejection.

Justifying why reviewers may have made an incorrect choice is not helpful.

This is the original point. No explanation of why they might have done this was asked for.

No it wasn’t. But since the topic was about small spelling mistakes, discussing why people reject for small spelling mistakes is entirely on-topic and attempting to shut that down is not justified.

I do not see that @TheDoctorBird is trying to justify reviewers who reject for simple spelling mistakes, but is trying to understand/explain why this happens. It is perfectly possible to understand and explain something without agreeing with it.

Except the snippet i quoted wasn’t on what others may have done… but that paragraph was what they themselves see themselves doing.

We seem to be restricting replies that the Typo was the only reason to Reject.

I don’t think I would be the only person to question the “Cycle Path or Cycle Trail” with this. If I was to decide that in my “Best Judgement” this was infrastructure and also had a typo then I believe that I would be in my rights to reject. I have 2 options to choose but can only pick 1. Does it matter which I pick?

Otherwise, what I am getting from this is if I receive a nomination where the image isn’t great, there is a typo in the Title, the Description is low quality and “Permanent and Distinct” is questionable. With any 1 of these I would probably give it a pass but with multiple I deem it Low Quality and Decide to Reject. I can only pick 1 to reject it on but any of them convey that I vote to Reject.

Correct. That is the point the OP wished to discuss. The rejection for the typo was incorrect.

Which is why my 1st reply was that I agreed that rejection “just” for the typo was wrong.

My argument is that people could be also questioning “Permanent and Distinct” as well. If added all together someone decides to Reject does it matter if which they use?

The conversation has long moved on but I /think/ that these signs are actually for the town centre route (which is purple like the marker on the sign) and they happen to also point to the (former) readybike stations which coincide with the route because it’s where tourists would be. But I am not local and obviously don’t know, this is just what I think is happening on these signs. Perhaps removing the readybike reference will also make them more acceptable to local reviewers, especially since a route like that would naturally go past important landmarks

I believe that it does. Niantic sends out Educational emails. All the conversation around the other rejection reason is off topic. This has been marked “Solved.”

Update for all the people telling me it wasnt the typo and was a bad nomination:

I fixed the minor typo and it was accepted. This whole saga made me extremely cross. Stop being so pedantic when things are perfectly readable and you save everyone a lot of work, this kind of edit would have been accepted in minutes by the ML but instead you forced me to resubmit and everyone who reviewed it correctly originally and all the people who had to re-review it wasted their time

you missed my point. Even my points.

And that is your view. The reality is for some people rules are black and white due to the way the brain works. So it is not at all picky to that way of thinking.

We may not like it but if that is the case then I get it… And yes I don’t know. None of us do. But sometimes it is worth trying to understand why people may see things the way they do

And so sure - it is annoying when our nominations are rejected when they appear picky. But we should also remember that sometimes the reason why is based on a very solid foundation

So yeah go back to the neurodivergent conversation on how some brains work.

If you think they wrong or too picky due to the way the brain works - do you think they should not review or nominate or even play??

And in some ways - and I get it – it is way easier to be black and white than to play the ambiguity / lee way game. I want my platinum medal. Process the system. Don’t think act on basic instructions. Or I have been rejected for spelling so spelling is important I will reject others..

And back to another point I made. And I think this one is just as important. There are number of things that could make this nomination suspect in peoples eyes. So when rejecting they chose the spelling mistake as the reason but equally they could have chosen other reasons to reject.

Picky it appears - yup sure. But wrong. No.

BUT — I hope though by trying to understand the various reasons a rejection can happen - people can go ““ah yeah. Makes sense. I can see how that can happen.”” And now the collective understanding can help us make better decisions in the future.

But if focusing on picky and a singular point — and not exploring ways to view things differently that could help both nominate and review better is the Niantic Ambassador advice then hey. My bad…
