Submittals

Okay… I submitted 3 nominations. A Local credit union with amazing architecture that is not seen with normal buildings that is frequently walked to and past by a local living community on the way to a plaza with shops and food places… Denied no cultural significance. Okay. Next I submitted our local Menards which right next to it there is a accepted nomination for an at home store roughly the same size and in the same very large plaza there is a fast food restaurant (Culvers) that is also an accepted nomination, nice to walk around and play wile my parents are shopping … Denied no cultural significance to the community…Cool. Third nomination.. Local family owner real-estate office that holds community events and also has a sign at the road that is a accepted nomination…Denied. So you are telling me Walmart as well as McDonalds both which you can’t walk to safely no sidewalk on a busy road are both accepted nominations and hold cultural significance to our community. HAHAHA what a joke… I’m going to start reviewing like how my actual good nominations are reviewed. Guess then I’m prolly not playing the game anymore. It would be nice to have actual places to play in the community but I guess ill go sit at McDonalds and stuff my face… Glad we are trying to get outside and get healthy and have fun. McNuggets and BigMacs on me!

Mod edit for language.

These are typically sponsored nominations that the companies have paid to come on to Pokémon GO.

Now let’s look at the rest.

Walking to a place doesn’t make it a great place for exercise. If you share your nominations people will be able to help out.

I don’t know what Menards is. If it’s a chain restaurant that is the same as all others in the chain then I can see people rejecting that as “Generic Business”.

Also not sure how this meets criteria and if it has the sign already it would be a duplicate as the sign already represents it.

Reviewing against criteria could mean you get points on the abuse ladder, which could impact your Wayfarer and game accounts. I would advise against it.

Menard’s is a large home and hardware store chain, similar to a Home Depot or Lowe’s, that’s mainly in the upper Midwest. I frequently shop at my local Menard’s stores, mainly for cleaning and pet supplies.

I believe that Culver’s once had a sponsorship, not with PoGo though. Neither of the Culver’s in my area has stops/gyms, but some in other cities nearby do. I remember trying to remove one once, and it was denied on initial request and appeal. When I asked why it couldn’t be removed after the appeal was denied, someone noted that they had been sponsored Wayspots in another game at one time, most likely Ingress. Some have ended up with stops/gyms in PoGo, others have never been in PoGo, so they are somewhat a mixed bag with PoGo.

@itsurboi Not everything you see with Wayspots are eligible, but may have gotten past community voting and were approved. And with Walmart and McD’s, they have sponsored stops/gyms with PoGo currently in the US; sponsored stops/gyms have a pink sponsored tag on them, as well as Learn More links.

Again, not everything you see as Wayspots may be eligible currently, so it’s important to follow the Wayspot Criteria. You can also find more info on what may or may not be eligible in the Criteria Clarification Collection topic. And, if you have any questions about any POIs you’re looking to nominate, feel free to post in the Nomination Support thread, and we’d be glad to help.

So Menards is like B&Q and Homebase from the UK.

Very similar to Homebase, but they’re more local to the upper Midwest, as they started and are based out of Wisconsin.

B&Q and Homebase are similar. Homebase, from recollection, do more garden stuff than B&Q.

Oh, it’s garden season at Menard’s right now! They do have garden centers at their stores!
