Trail Markers Mass Appeal

Hello Explorers! Recently I nominated a bunch of trail markers on a beautiful hiking trail in Ivano-Frankivs’ka oblast, Ukraine (link below).

Some of them were accepted automatically, but many were rejected by the community. The most popular rejection criteria is “Generic Business” which is not true, see below.

Some of them were already appealed successfully:

Here is the text of the appeal, it is relevant for all nominations:

Route is FREE, so cannot be classified as a Generic Business. Route map and details are publicly available via the link: PANORAMIC - All seasons resort Bukovel. Welcome to the Heart of the Carpathians!. It is a great place to explore and exercise. Route is safe and has a mobile network, GPS (current nomination is a confirmation) and trail markers, which is an important part of a route so you do not need a guide and do not get lost.

Request: Considering the appeal limit it will cost me at least 3-4 months of the appeal process. Based on several successful appeals already, a similar style of nominations and being a part of a single hiking trail, it is safe to assume that the rest of the nominations will be approved too. Please consider the possibility to mass-appeal, thank you.

@NianticAaron unfortunately I don’t know who is in charge now, but as a person who was born in that are I can confirm those trails are really great way to enjoy the beauty of the Carpathian mountains

@olehsamoilenko Trail markers ARE generally accepted in most countries so as my fellow wayfarers will tell you it is most likely down to the amount of reviewers that cover your part of Ukraine.

There’s no set limit that I’m aware of that also correctly allows your nominations to be accepted/declined so it could be one bad reviewer in a bunch of accepted reviewers

Now I can’t speak for @NianticAaron or @NianticLC but while they may look at this post you have to respect the process that is in place for “appeals” which is spread across “the community” the “ML system (Emily)” and “Niantic Staff” themselves that are human and review Appeals so asking for “Mass Appeal/Approval” and to be over ridden is surely going to raise some eyebrows

That said from my point of view I would have accepted them as I’m an explorer getting stung by nettles daily but being from the United Kingdom you don’t fall in my remit for reviews so it depends which reviewers and locations your submissions are going to unless anyone adds comments to this post.

The appeals are given out every 20 days (2 at a time) so for the time being I’d set a reminder and await for the next ones to pop up…just take into account that appeals are reviewed by humans.

If you get an email that says “our team” then this will most likely be the Machine Learning System Auto Approving things that wayfarers are training to take away our human jobs in the future so be afraid…very afraid

That’s said all we can do for now is wait and see what can be done within the rules.

While you are waiting to get your appeals back, you can resubmit the rejected ones. Being rejected once does not mean that you can’t submit it again. I usually try submitting a couple of times before I appeal anyway. Maybe the resubmits will be ML accepted if some of the earlier ones were.

I was punished with a ban for 30 days because I created a portal with a marker arrow for a hiking trail.

I think someone reported me for that because these kinda wayspots still appear so I am a bit clueless about this, is it legit or not. Please @Niantic make up your mind about this matter🤷‍♀️
I report “trail marker” portals, but you reject them…?

There are some complications with re-submitting nominations in the distant rural area. Unfortunately

Hello from the other side.

The lovely thing is alle these portal submissions are still valid category options within pokemon to submit portals into, then come the ingress lords who want them removed, untill niantic actually removes these submissions category options everywhere, they will keep showing up, only to then be removed again from the other side.

Rinse and repeat.

Good gyms get removed, because some people don’t like them in ingress and this is destroying the community as well as your badge process since the gym was removed.

These poi usage can easily be separated for both games and this effect would not occur.

Like in peridot there are more portals than in pogo and ingress, looks to be this is already an option not considered by niantic
