Trying to Fix Location of an Unused Wayspot

For the past few months, I’ve been nominating POIs to Wayfarer to make my local park a good place to Pokemon GO, and using the IITC app helped make that process a lot easier, but I’ve also noticed some unused wayspots at the park from years ago that never became Pokestops in Pokemon GO because they’re in the same cell as other wayspots. One of these wayspots recently caught my eye when I realized the location was off, and was located at the nearby path rather than the POI it’s supposed to represent. It never became a Power Spot because it was too close to another stop, and I figured that if I managed to edit the location to a more accurate one, there’s a chance we might be able to get another Power Spot at the park, but the only problem is that I can’t actually do anything about it. Since it doesn’t show up in Pokemon GO, I have no way to edit the location in-game, and I wasn’t sure what else to do. Is there a way to potentially get the location edited through Pokemon GO or Wayfarer, or do I need to play Ingress Prime in order to move it to it’s proper location?

Hello and welcome,

If the location is inaccurate and you are unable to move it in-game, you can request a location edit via help chat on the Wayfarer website. If you don’t see the orange chat bubble in the bottom right corner, click on Help and it should pop up. If this isn’t on satellite and/or Street View, you may want to provide a geotagged photo or Scaniverse splat to confirm the correct location.

Keep in mind that locations edits should only be done to accurately place a Wayspots, not to manipulate the game board, which is considered abuse.

At this time, Wayspots can only be moved for games under Niantic Scopely. such as PoGo. Ingress is under Niantic Spatial and nominations and edits have been disabled until they have their new system ready to go.

Thanks for the reply. I checked the help page before posting, but I completely missed that orange chat bubble, so thanks for telling me, since I doubt I would have found that. While moving the location of this wayspot could potentially result in a Power Spot in Pokemon GO, I mainly wanted to do it just to fix the wayspot’s location, since it’s pretty inaccurate, so I don’t think it would fall under manipulating the game board thankfully. It’s unfortunate that it won’t get moved in Ingress for the time being, but I don’t think anyone in my local community plays it, and the wayspot does show up in Ingress already, so it wouldn’t have much of an impact there aside from being at the accurate location. Thanks for the help, and hopefully I can fix this wayspot to make it more accurate.

We just have to make sure to note whenever anyone is thinking of making a location edit that it has to done for accuracy, not for game board manipulation. And Ingress uses a different inclusion rule than PoGo, as they don’t use the S2 cells. Instead, Ingress has a 20m rule.
