If that were the case, there wouldn’t be all these massive blue fields about the place. shakes fist at Scotland RES
Blue fields? I see a load of green where I live.

Anyway, back to postboxes.
They are annoying. Always trying to split away and do their own thing.
I hope it’s OK to add to this thread rather than starting a new one in Nomination Support, but please move to there if inappropriate.
My first attempt at nominating a pre-ERII postbox and it has been rejected by ML. I believe that there is only one other pre-ERII postbox in town that isn’t a wayspot and that is surrounded by other wayspots and would fall foul of S2 cell / 20m rules.
Having read all of this thread, do I need to remove the word “Post-box” from the title and description and replace with “cypher” or “pillar box” in order to get it past ML and allow the community an opportunity to vote on this?
I hope its also OK to tag a few wayfarers @gazzas89 @PkmnTrainerJ @hankwolfman @frealafgb @elijustrying who seem to have the most experience with these?
I’ve had success with ML accepting ones that are titled “King George V Post Box (Park Road)” (to use your one).
Maybe hyphenating it didn’t help?
My advice is say cyoher, rarher tha post box. Emily doesnt seem tk be a fan of postbox
Side note, typing with cold fingers makes this place so luch harder lol they heed to sort yhe autocorrect
This is a wallbox not a pillarbox. It may be embedded in a wall pier but that’s the type. Sorry ML didn’t like it. I’ve had wallboxes accepted by ML and also passed to community, not sure what they didn’t like here. ( https://lbsg.org/about-boxes/ciphers/king-george-v/ )
I send to use decriptions like “VR Wall Box, High Street” or “George V Pillar Box, Acacia Avenue”, but Emily seems more relaxed at the moment about descriptions.
Emily can also be fussy about photos, try a tighter crop to reduce the amount of greenery. Also I’d advise 1:1 aspect ratio. It may be worth taking a few photos of the object if the ML is being difficult, then you can resubmit with a different picture more easily.
Thank you for your advice.
Your descriptions read more like titles?
I could crop my existing photo, to remove greenery, but that would make it narrower and in the opposite direction to 1:1 aspect ratio?
Yes, sorry… those are titles not descriptions
On the aspect ratio, Niantic games all crop the images to some extent. Very narrow or wide images can have unpredictable results when it comes to cropping, the 3:2 ratio is not too bad for this though. I’d get much closer to the wall box in this case, even if that means that some of the top and bottom would be cropped.
I think it would also be useful to add the manufacturer details, I think it is W.T.Allen & Co. London, but of course pesky Ivy has got in the way!
Pull the ivy out of the way?
The ivy is stuck to it like glue, but I was able to see enough to confirm it is indeed a W.T.Allen & Co. London. That can be added to the description.
Retake photo and centre box better.
Title and text something like this
Title - Albert Park GR Cypher Wall Post Box
Description - Albert Parks wall post box with the Royal Cypher GR on the front sits on the Park Road side of the park. GR cypher mail boxes were made in the early 20th C between 1910 and 1936. GR stands for George Rex. Rex being latin for king and is short for King George V. It is made of cast iron by Allen and Co of London.
Supporting - Place to explore. GR cyphered post box from the 20th Century. Easily seen on Google Street View. Easy to access next to the historic community park - Albert Park. History on the the GR Cypher can be found here https://www.postalmuseum.org/blog/royal-cyphers-on-letterboxes
Good luck. Don’t use my text./links Just an example. But I hope it gives you an idea
Thanks for your helpful advice.
I cropped the photo and replaced “Post-box” with “Cypher” and “Wall Box” in the title and description. I put some of your extra information into the description, but re-writing it in my own words. I did borrow your link to add to the one I already used, as it came up when I searched for similar sites and I couldn’t find a better one.
That seems to have got it past ML as it would have been rejected by now - thanks again!
Nice, TBH it might be worth the opportunity to add a less-close up picture when you can as you might find that one looks odd in-game.
My original shot was wider, but I cropped it following advice in this thread!
Yes, that seemed to have worked for the review, the original shot was a bit more aesthetically pleasing IMO
At least now it is there a more pleasing photo can be made. I prefer the pleasing photos as @shritwod says. But the greenery etc can cause issues with Emily. My two PO boxes feature the brickwork and are centred just right. So ““look”” nicer. Well done though @Liverlouike15 nice work
