UK Postboxes Topic

Descriptions have looked something like this

Welcome to the forum @Sockyduck :hugs:

Hello and welcome @Sockyduck
Do read all the advice in this topic as a starting point.

You have described this as a George V postbox, but from what I can see it is the cypher of George VI.

You might find this website helpful

Don’t copy the text directly from the website, take the information and write your own description.
If your submissions are being declined within 24 hours by the automatic program (nickname Emily) then having a photo that is mostly wall is probably not helping. See examples in this topic for examples of much tighter focus photos.
Experience is that It is unlikely to get approved on appeal. But if you allow the U.K. community to review it is likely to pass - but get the description correct.

Hi,

It seems that the consensus is that the title should include both the monarch and the location, e.g. “Edward VII post box, High Street”. So the first descriptions are too vague, and it is cypher with a “Y” as you realised

I’d also recommend more post box and less wall in the photo, as that may be triggering the AI. Photo seems desaturated too, maybe try boosting the colours. If your submission has been rejected by “our team” then it means the AI, if it’s “the community” then it went out to general voting - your first task is to get it past the AI.

In my experience you are very unlikely to get a UK post box through on appeal

Hi,

Thanks for the info. Will make some amends and will report back

Thank you!

I never appeal post boxes, niantic appeal reviewers treat all of them like standard ones (as in, American standard ones), even when its rare ones like kind edward the … whichever one wasnt in power long lol, id suggest just resubmitting with a better picture, the correct king and hopefully get the nice reviewers who acdept those post boxes lol

I do appeal the Postboxes. Sometimes they accept the appeal, and sometimes they reject it. I prefer them to review the appeal to save me from going to the location and resubmitting.

I dont appeal historic stuff with any hope of success anymore because they always say its a “normal xyz” and reject it. Im surprised they ever accept a post box, so its partly good if some of those appeals work, but also bad because its so inconsistent it mighr as well be a roulette wheel for a decision

Also LOL xyz better be okay

kaykaykay also not allowed, which is right under my thumb for spamming in junk descriptions. (if you get my meaning)

If youre close eboigh, you can just download the photo from the wayfarer site and resubmit in game, thats what i usually do lol

I sometimes get historical stuff through on appeal, but i usually have to sell the crap out of it in the submission then sell the crap out of it again in the appeal submission lol

Pick a number… Neither Edward VII (9 years) nor Edward VIII (about 10 months) reigned very long. Edward VII died in 1910. His grandson, Edward VIII, abdicated in 1936. UK reviewers like post boxes from both their reigns.

Similar to what others said I recommend “St Margarets Avenue King George VI Cypher Wall Box” and take a close-up main photo so only the box is visible in the frame, as that is what worked for my second nomination.

Cant even get past emily now :sob::sob:

Not having much luck with this one. Goes to “Under Review” then to “Not Accepted” :frowning:
