You mentioned you had a warning before, this warning is a lot more serious as the next one could be a 10 year or permanent ban.
To be honest, I would probably not submit any new wayspot anymore unless you are 100% sure it is correct (accurate picture and location).
I don’t know if you use an iPhone, but with iPhones it is very easy to see on the map where you took the picture (I always do that if I’m submitting anything where I can’t check on streetview/satelite view if I have positioned the marker correct, at least when I submit using wifi).
I use Android. Looking at maps, I can’t see anything on the road between the forest and the first house. Not planning on submitting any wayspots after my suspension is finished if it takes only 1 mistake to get banned.
You have already admitted it has taken 2 “Mistakes” so far!
You was already on 1 warning.
You was nominating something that you believe was difficult to locate.
Why didn’t you place on hold, check, then check again.
@DTrain2002 ‘s post above shows how far you was off and I do not see how this is anything but your “error”. You located it 20% along the field, actual location is about 60%.
Oh no yeah 2 obviously, I was referring to the fact that after the warning I submitted dozens of wayspots correctly, but placed only one incorrectly and that’s all it took.
Seeing the placement now in hindsight, I completely agree that the Wayfarer team were correct with not accepting it. Although, I still feel like the suspension for it is harsh and unnecessary as it was genuinely a mistake.
I can sympathise with this as sometimes when you open the nomination section, the pin doesnt look like its at your position quite - as if it lagged - and sometimes its easy to check/correct if there are obvious landmarks, but sometimes it’s not obvious. Sometimes we do our best to put the pin correctly and there’s just not enough information to make sure.
What I do now is if Im unsure, I reload the game when I’m at the location, and go right to the nomination screen, and don’t move the pin. That way I’ve let the game GPS sort itself out.
And why did my “fixed” version of the same nomination ( same spot , same object, cropped picture & different title) get approved (on the same day I was banned) if the problem was with the location?
It may very well be that the community approved your nomination, but that there was also a report filed for abuse. I’m no expert, but to the best of my knowledge, real people will investigate these reports (this is not done by AI), and the team looking into these reports are also busy, so you might see conflicting messages. Most of the community approved, however they shouldn’t have, and the final result is that you were investigated.
Also, if I read your posts correct, you now also have an approved wayspot at an incorrect location. I suggest that you ask staff to remove this wayspot, to prevent that this will result in further punishment.
Oh yeah, I looked up how to remove / report wayspots on Niantics website and it shows that I can either do it through PoGo (dont have access) or through Pikmin Bloom ( don’t have). Do you know how else I can do it?
Given that you submitted it around 50 metres from the correct location, an in game edit would be unable to move it to the correct location, as in game edits are restricted to around 10 metres to prevent abuse. You’re meant to request bigger edits through the wayfarer support chat, but as you’re currently suspended from wayfarer, you won’t be able to access that.
Pikmin Bloom’s map doesn’t get updated often, and so it may be best to use the link with PoGo. If there is an issue with a Wayspot not meeting certain criteria, such as being on K-12 school grounds or possibly obstructing emergency services (think Wayspots at police or fire stations), then you can request removal via help chat on the Wayfarer website. Help chat can also help with moving Wayspots that need a location edit that is over 10m, or remove an ineligible photo.
The Reporting Abuse link can also be used to ask for a location edit over 10m. You’ll want to select Invalid Location Edit in the drop down menu and explain why you’re requesting the move, as well as provide the current and new location coordinates.
Wayfarer only do investigation if someone report abuse or staff check your nomination themselves. Just because you got approved wayspot doesnt mean its right. Whoever approved your nomination might comes from community that can make mistake, sometimes they just approve it.
