Upgraded wayfarer slower "in voting" process for more than a month

Greatings,

  • I have created a wayfarer submision for specific place “Velo track” which is pernament and very popular in the city. I have applied “Upgrade” on it but it seems to be rewied and voted very slow. For example I have created 3 more submisions that were already accepted and on them is not used any “Upgrades”. Those 3 submisions were created 11 days after that one and got accepted like in 7-10 days after the creation.
  • The submision is created on 01/05/2026(mm/dd/yyyy).
  • Is that a bug regards the “Upgrades” usage or a strange feature that is not discribed on the “Upgrades” information? Should I create a new submision for same place in order to be created faster?

Thank you in advanced.

Welcome to the forums

The time taken for something to go through review depends on a number of factors, one of which is whether there are existing things already in the queue for the same area. Multiple wayspots near each other won’t be in voting at the same time, so they have to wait.

The Upgrade feature doesn’t cause a submission to jump the queue or be pushed to the front. It expands the area from which reviewers are taken, so that it will get reviewed faster once it gets into voting.

Is this submission currently in the queue on in voting?

Yes, it is still “In Voting” status. For more info I think it was “In Voting” status from around 01/07/2026. Currently I don’t have any others active submisions. So it should be the only submision for wayferer in the area as there no much players around that submits a new submisions.

P.S. Thank you for the information regards the area submisions.

Hmm. Once it reaches voting, an upgraded submission should definitely be quick, since it has passed through all the hurdles and delays, so the existence of other submissions no longer matters. Upgraded and being in voting for four weeks does sound slow.

Hey @Jabbirttok ,

I have looked into your submission and can see that it working as intended. You will be notified once it reaches a decision.

Thanks,

Sometimes these things are just slow if there aren’t many reviewers

Hey @NianticAaron , slightly different issue, but figured I’d bring it up here as it’s kind of adjacent to the issue that was reported.

On November 25th 2025 I submitted a title edit and a description edit for a wayspot. The following day, both went into Niantic Review at around the same time. The description edit was accepted later that day (still November 26th), whilst the title edit has been stuck in Niantic Review ever since then. This feels like something has maybe gone wrong to me, but I’ve been reluctant to make a thread about it because for all I know, the queue for title edits at Niantic HQ is significantly longer than the queue for description edits.

Thanks for reporting it @hankwolfman ,

This contribution is bugged. We are aware of this issue and our team is working on a fix.

It expands the area from which reviewers are taken

This. I don’t think upgrading is particularly beneficial for trail markers as they can differ a lot in appearance depending on where they are. So it might get shown to someone who is not used to seeing markers like that. Just a theory tho

What did it look like? Was it near a road or in a park without streetview images?

That was my thought as well. Sometimes, some details are easier to decide for the locals. People from far away, and even different languages, may struggle a bit. I prefer to use upgrades on my ‘safest’ nominations, like playgrounds - if I feel urgent need, like fixing a nearby wayspot on vacation

Someone ended up resolving some of my nominations based on this (I think) Thank you
