Valid Title Edits being rejected

After the challenge kicked off, I noted that I’ve had valid portal name edits come back as rejected as I’m assuming people are now getting online and reviewing more now.

Example:

We have multiple Jumping Pillows in our town, hence the name update. The place that the Jumping Pillow is located is called “The Junction” hence the new title suggestion “The Junction Jumping Pillow”. What would be reasons for this title being declined?

Similarly for the Estate Sign. Checking through some criteria and past accepted title submissions seems to indicate that titles should be specific if there is more than one waypoint. In this case, Estates normally have 2-4 entry signs to enter from North/South/East/West directions. To help make it clear to players in game, I’ve updated the title to indicate the streets that the Waypoint is located on, but this was rejected. What am I missing here?

Thanks all.

ETA - I’m aware I can appeal these, but I don’t see the reason to appeal these edits and waste them. I would rather keep the appeals in place for other situations.

Check your email to see if it was “our team” or the community. I stopped making edits when “our team” started grabbing and rejecting even the simplest correction. I don’t have the patience to appeal every rejected edit.

Yep, looks like it says “our team”.

Welcome to the community.

I would probably appeal the first title edit and provide an explaination as to why it should be approved. The second one I would probably word it as “Weatherby / Waterway Entrance - Discovery Sign”. It may not work, but worth considering.

Sometimes, when ML has rejected a valid title edit, I’ll just resubmit it instead of using an appeal. Most times, ML accepts the 2nd edit I do.

Or, sometimes I change up how the title is worded. For example, you could do “Jumping Pillow at (blank)” instead of “(blank) Jumping Pillow.”

Edit: I guess ____ doesn’t stay blank.

When the Wayfarer Team told us about the Machine Learning algorithm, they acknowledged that it makes mistakes, and needs our feedback in order to learn.

They keep recommending that we use up appeals on these bad ‘team’ decisions with no regard for how this impacts our resources and satisfaction.

However, they have also indicated that we can flag their learning disorders on this forum. Sometimes they will see a report and overturn the decision. Perhaps someone who has done this successfully can post here to say which sub-forum gets the best response.

I think they actually want and need our feedback, and believe that we should not be required to use those precious 20-day-cycle appeals to do it.

The big purpose behind this current Edit Challenge is probably all about improving the judgement of the machine. I only wish they would clue us in, tell us what to expect and where to report problems, rather than leave everything haphazard this way.
