Water Fountain in Pond rejected

I nominated three water fountains in a pond at a local park. One was accepted, the other two rejected for being “inaccessible.” There is a paved walking path around the pond, and all three fountains are in range of almost all of the walking path (walking path is ~1km around, but the fountains can be reached easily from the path). If rejecting because you can’t stand literally on top of it, wouldn’t every water fountain be rejected everywhere? Sometimes I don’t understand the review process when they’re quite easily accessible.

Hi,
This may help

If by fountains you mean pond aerators then they shouldn’t be accepted.
Sometimes some get wrongly accepted ( like it sounds one of yours was?)
We are human mistakes happen.
The ones you see should be removed as they are considered not safe.

It might be an aerator, but it is also a fountain, lighted with varying patterns (not as fancy as Hotel fountains, but they vary the patterns and lighting while in operation).

While it may be pretty to view from the walkway it is not accessible. Direct access is something that is expected of Wayspots. The only exception is vertical distance for hanging art.

I realize it’s disappointing but there are likely other items to nominate. Can you tell us more about the trail?

If you share the general area folks here are pretty good at finding potential items to nominate.

There is a difference between an aerator that is its own standalone object in the middle of a pond or lake, and a fountain which is a decorative object that has its own self contained basin like this one (picture taken from the wayfarer map, it’s in Albert Park in Middlesbrough):

The basin is as much part of the fountain as the rest of the object, and thus you can safely walk up to and touch the edge of the fountain. You don’t need to cross any water to reach the object, as the water body is contained within the object.

The aerator is just an object within a body of water though, which serves to oxygenate the water. The water body isn’t contained within the aerator, the aerator is contained within the body of water, and thus you’d have to cross the water to access it, which wouldn’t be safe.
