Waypoints Gone - Hunt Community

I am moving this topic to general discussion area since it isn’t a big.

Since the last update, waypoints that meet the criteria have vanished from our communities. The entity managing these communities goes by the name of “Hunt Community”.

Several coordinates will be provided to help pinpoint the affected areas: (34.737616, -77.373867), (34.738828, -77.391725), (34.730823, -77.390729), (34.707001, -77.362580), (34.708310, -77.348360), (34.702663, -77.374679), and more…

The Waypoints appear in the “Upload” section of the app, but the Pokestops are gone. If you need more information, please let me know.

This seems to be in the area you originally posted about: Waypoints Gone - Hunt Community

I am not sure I understand this comment. If you mean they are still showing on your contributions page, that is how it works. It doesn’t get removed there if it gets removed from the game.

I shall merge this with the original discussion.
I interpret this still visible comment to relate to seeing them if you go to make a new submission.

Oh right! The places near me that have had their Pokestops and Gyms removed at property owner request are still visible as exclamation points on the nearby check, so that makes sense.

Does this mean you have managed to establish a single body to try and discuss this with?

One of the recommendations made in this post was to make separate topics as the affected areas encompass many miles. Someone from Niantic already responded to this post talking about the cemetery being removed by the property owners. Wouldn’t merging post decrease visibility?

Yeah it might be confusing, but there are hundreds of property owners that would have had to submit appeals to Wayfarer around the same time for this to have happened. Everyone knows about the cemetery being off-limits and no one goes there to play. But many businesses, parks, communities with different management entities got tangled up in one request making it a massive removal of waypoints.

I will be sharing in the following days more information as the community provides me with more feedback.

i have no insight into this situation other than what Aaron told us. i just wanted to keep it all together. i am so sorry this has happened to your community.

No, as it could be the same property owners/managers. The memorial garden is managed by the Marine Crops at Camp Lejeune., and it’s possible that they also manage other areas. I did post previously with the memorial garden contact info, which are the Marines, so it’s possible that they are the ones that requested the removal of the stops/gyms, not the city of Jacksonville.

Now, while the cemetery is managed by the NC Dept of Military and Veterans Affairs, they may work with Camp Lejeune and the Marine Corps.

I think at this point, you may actually have to speak to someone with the camp in regards to this, not the city itself. I can certainly see the US military having more say in this area that the local government.

Maybe I have misunderstood something, but isn’t this one large area, and the comment by Aaron was that entire area was removed at property owner request.
Perhaps a map would be useful if you establish a patchwork of property owners. From the point of view of this forum as a peer group we can try support you with ideas etc.
The Wayfarer Team will only discuss with the property owners, and they won’t say what the content of those discussions are.
As a community you are going to have to try and communicate with the appropriate authorities to try and establish the root cause and see if there can be a change of heart.
I am willing to be persuaded otherwise but I think keeping this as one large post about the entirety of the issue creates a single visible focus?

that is what i was asking. it looks like it is all one large area to me. the left side is where we were originally looking. the right is the new post.

Others are saying that other places in Jacksonville were removed as well, like the downtown area.

I believe you need to create a map to divide which place belong to which owner. You can skip all those with marine or cemetery and ask clarification about downtown area or other place

I don’t think that matters, because in the end, they both seem to be managed by the US military and/or Veterans Affairs.

It sounds more likely that some overarching body took the lead in this.
Try to establish who that might be.

Well it seems op think that some place are getting deletion where its not managed by those two

They may have been removed from PoGo, but not from the Wayfarer map. Before the split with Ingress, we had Wayspots that were not in PoGo (and still aren’t) but were ih Ingress. Most likely the property owers/managers only asked for the stops/gyms to be removed, not the complete Wayspot, as they may not have had an issue with Ingress players, just PoGo players. The Wayspots could still appear on the nomination screen map when the toggle is on as explanation points instead of stops/gyms now.
