Waypoints report rejected even though I have proof

I reported for abuse because both of these sport courts are using third-party photos which is against the rules.

I just want to help out when I notice suspicious waypoints and to report them. But it’s difficult when even with proof it gets rejected.

Also another thing in that area I noticed so i will just put everything here:

Unfortunately, even when the photos are abusive, Niantic will not remove the photo if it is the only photo for the wayspot.

The wayspot itself is eligible, so Niantic will not remove it.

There is considerable opinion that something else needs to be done by Niantic, such as removing the wayspot so it can be resubmitted correctly, or giving it a placeholder photo and removing the abusive one.

However, what you have found is consistent with what Niantic have done for other reports.

If the cross is a stolen photo and the object does not exist at that location, this can definitely be reported as not existing. This is a separate issue from something that does exist and I suggest keeping these as separate reports.

I see thank you for clarifying, but is there really nothing that there could be done that tenis court is not even Romanian it’s just a stolen picture from Reddit

The cross looks like it’s from a different place too but I’m not sure. I’m hoping people with more skills can check that out.

Does the tennis court actually physically exist where the wayspot is?

If so, it will not be removed.

If not, it should be reported as “wayspot does not exist”. I wouldn’t bother mentioning the abusive photo since this doesn’t have any relevance when Niantic evaluate the removal request - what matters is whether the POI does exist at that location.

Typically, for wayspots where the object does exist at the location it’s pinned at, but the submitter used a third party image, Niantic will try to encourage you to take a new image for the wayspot and submit it, and then request that the third party image is removed after the new image has been approved and added to the wayspot.

They seem to not like removing invalid images that are attached to a wayspot if they are the only image for that wayspot.

Thanks for the appeal @bluewe ,

We have removed the images. You should be able to see these changes reflect in the game.

Great to hear that the “abusive” image has been removed.

As it has been noted that Niantic seem to be against removing an “incorrect” image for a legitimate wayspot if it is the only image is it possible…

  • You could confirm if this is Niantic Policy?
  • The best option to suggest a change of that policy?

Thanks
