My Wayspot nomination for a local basketball court was recently approved, but the pin was moved to a location that falls in a S2 cell that is currently occupied by another PokéStop, so it is not showing up in PoGO. The pin was originally placed in the corner of the basketball court where the supplemental photo (provided in the original nomination) was taken. Given that the PokéStop is not appearing in game, I do not have the option of editing the location of the current Wayspot. I also submitted a ticket via the Support bot. Unfortunately, the chat history is no longer accessible (as I had closed the browser). It’s been 2 days, but I still have not received an email regarding my ticket. Is this a lost cause or should I follow up with a different device that would be able to stay logged on/in the chat window? I’m concerned about getting flagged as “abuse,” but I have evidence to support the proposed waystop location is still within court limits.
I would not risk it, the marker is at the moment still correct, probably even slightly better, as the wayspot does not interfere anymore with the field. Moving it just to show up in pokemon go, could be viewed as abuse, even if your intention is good.
Typically Niantic prefer the marker to be at the natural point of discovery for an object. In this case, the court is enclosed, so the entrance to the court (which is clearly visible in satellite view) would probably be the best valid location, as it both represents the court and doesn’t interfere with people using it. So I would say this is potentially a valid edit and that if the original position was already on the entrance, it shouldn’t have been moved away from there. That’s me though. I’m sure other people may have other opinions.
They ask for your email address, but help chat doesn’t send email responses.
I also hate when people move the court pin away from the entrance to the center where it interferes with play. This isn’t just our opinion, it is stated here: Niantic Wayfarer
Instead of placing the Wayspot in the center of an open field, park, or other large area, place it at the entrance or where there is a visible sign or placemarker. That encourages you to approach the area to visit the Wayspot, without having to enter or interfere with the activities within.
We think the algorithm kind of averages the pin suggestions, so it appears to have landed in kind of in an in between state here.
It is hard for me to get an idea of where the pin is on the field if you would like to share the coordinates where you would like to put it.
I think what I would do if I were convinced that this should be moved for real world (not gameplay) reasons, and had lost the help chat history, is submit a request through the “Wayspot Removals” form at the top here. It can also be used for modification requests:
I don’t like this form because the reasons don’t match up to what I want to do, but just pick something and then explain where you get to enter text. You can let them know that you have already submitted a ticket through help chat but lost the history and the reply. If the automatic email acknowledging receipt of the ticket asks for your credentials as property owner even though you check that you aren’t, do not reply to that one. A human with a name will reply.
I just want to be very clear that they will not move a Wayspot to make something show up in Pokemon Go. They will only move it for a real world reason.
Quick update—I filled out the form provided above and received a response within 24 hours. Wayspot location was adjusted and pokestop is now live in game. Thanks everyone for your input, but especially @cyndiepooh.
