Approved Wayspot Not Appearing in Pokémon GO & Incorrect Placement Issue

Hello Explorers & Niantic Team,

I recently had a Wayspot approved through Wayfarer, but it has not yet appeared in Pokémon GO despite the approval email stating it should take up to 48 hours. The nomination details are as follows:

Title:1923
Location: Krivá 1041/4, 040 01 Košice, Slovakia
Date of Approval: March 8, 2025
Appeal Approval Date: March 13, 2025

It has now been 5 days since my nomination was officially approved via appeal, but it still does not appear in Pokémon GO. I understand that not all Wayspots are included in all Niantic games, but I have reviewed the area and believe my nomination meets all necessary criteria.

Additionally, I noticed that the Wayspot’s location in Niantic’s system seems to be incorrect. It’s positioned too far from where it should be.

The correct location should be in the middle of the triangle near the bus station on the same street. Right now, it might be overlapping with another Wayspot, which could be causing it not to appear. Could you check and adjust the placement accordingly?

I have attached comparison screenshots from Google Maps showing the correct location.

Any guidance or clarification on this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time and assistance.

Best regards,

Welcome to the forum. Your Wayspot is in the same level 17 S2 cell as another, so is not eligible to go live in Pokemon Go:

To further explain:

I know the prompt tells you that you are submitting a “Pokestop” but you are actually submitting a Wayspot to Niantic’s Lightship database. The Wayspot can only become a Pokestop or gym if it is alone in a level 17 S2 cell. This is a good article about S2 cells and PoGo: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/

They probably moved it because of this street view: https://maps.app.goo.gl/DLZ1Meqq7ea3CtE4A

From the availiable footage, it seems that your placement was indeed incorrect and they only corrected it.
If this is incorrect you will need to go take photos as evidence and then ask for a relocation within help chat

Thanks for the info! For some reason, I can’t access the Intel Map to check. Since the location is incorrect on the map, would adjusting it slightly help it appear in Pokémon GO? if yes how do I do it?

As @kawin240 said, you can submit evidence to help chat (Niantic Wayfarer) that the location is wrong and ask them to correct it.

fwiw, I have had a location that Niantic moved during review moved back to the correct location with evidence.

They will NOT move a correct pin in order to make it appear in any specific game, so only ask for the edit if it is a real life correction of the location.

The current pin is at 48.718427,21.268769 if you need that information.

Thanks for the insight! I understand they might have moved it, but the current placement is still incorrect. If it moves just a bit, it will not overlap. I’ll take updated photos as evidence and request a relocation through the help chat. Appreciate the advice!

Thanks for the info! I appreciate the clarification. The current pin is still incorrect in real life, so I’ll gather evidence and request a correction through the help chat. Hopefully, that will resolve the issue! Also, how do I check the pin? This is the fact that the one currently placed is not accurate

The coordinates for the current pin: 48.718427,21.268769

This is from the Ingress map (iitc) I checked.

Not sure what you are asking about checking?

When I make a location edit request through help chat, I take several geotagged photos of the point of interest from different angles, including one from as close to the same orientation as the Wayspot photo as I can.

Not sure that I answered your question.

Thanks for checking! I see that the current pin is at 48.718427, 21.268769, but the correct location should be 48.718457, 21.268723. It’s a small adjustment that would prevent overlap while keeping it accurate. I’ll take geotagged photos from different angles and request a location edit through help chat. Appreciate the help!

Again, I want to stress that they will not do a location edit just to make something appear in any specific game. And sometimes they will call attempts to move something simply for game reasons abuse. Please be very, very clear that this is a correction to the actual physical location if you suggest an edit. If the pin is accurate where it is, I would not try to move it. I don’t want you to get in trouble over something you learned about doing here.

I personally would look for something else to submit instead. Maybe this could become a Power Spot if they ever add any more of those.

I assure you that when viewed from the highest point of the building, directly underneath the roof, the pin is accurately placed as shown in the picture. I’m not trying to manipulate anything—this is simply how it appears from my perspective. The pin is much more in line with the actual physical location. Thank you for your understanding.
