When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:
I am writing to report an issue with a wayspot that went missing after a location edit. Here are the details:
- Wayspot Title: Silverstrand Tennis and Basketball Court
- Location (lat/lon): 22.320996, 114.271929
- City: Hong Kong
- Country: China
- Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):
- Issue:
The location edit for this wayspot was confirmed, but now the wayspot is unavailable. I have attached a screenshot of the confirmation email for reference.
- Additional Information (if any):
I read online that the wayspot might now be in an S17 cell that already contains another wayspot. Here are the details of the other wayspot:
- Wayspot Title: 銀岬道休憩處 Silver Cape Road Sitting-out Area
- Current Location (lat/lon): 22.320771, 114.272044
- Proposed location: 22.320715, 114.272217
We are currently waiting for the results of the location edit for “銀岬道休憩處 Silver Cape Road Sitting-out Area.” Would the missing wayspot “reappear” if it no longer shares the same S17 cell as the Silver Cape Road Sitting-out Area?
Thank you for your assistance in resolving this issue. I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Martin
Hello,
Unfortunately, both locations are in the same cell, which is occupied by another Wayspot. As such, it doesn’t meet the inclusion rules for Pokémon GO.
The red pin in the below picture is the “proposed” location and the purple circle is it’s current location.
Thank you very much for your comment.
Indeed, the proposed new location is not ideal as it is barely touching the sitting-out area as shown via your satellite view. Ideally, i want to propose the new wayspot to be where the Green marker on google maps. This is just so everything is official and i’m not allowing any possibility of Niantic saying my edits are abusive. As mentioned in another recent post of mine:
Warning received for correcting a Wayspot! - Wayspot Appeals - Niantic Wayfarer Community
What I have learn from that post is that there is an option to edit location beyond 10 meters, that was not known to me until just now.
In this case, I would like to seek a team member from Niantic to help shift this wayspot to the green spot (22.32063898470846, 114.27227339627188) - based on Google maps.
Thank you for your reply and help.
Yeah, this is something that gets a lot of people so don’t feel bad. Glad I was able to help.
Thank you very much for your help!
I have just submitted the request on the website. Hope they will get back to me soon.
My question is, if the location correction is successful, and it does not overlap with the other wayspot in the other cell. Would the “missing” wayspot be re-established automatically? Thank you again!

As long as the Wayspot is in its own cell then it should, yes.
