Wayspot Removal appeal - Hotham Park multi directional sign

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Hotham Park multi directional sign
  • Location (lat/lon): roughly 50.7883937389148, -0.6704842321008005
  • City: Bognor Regis
  • Country: United Kingdom
  • Additional Information (if any): Wayspot had been approved since 6th Oct 2024. No obvious reason for removal. Sign is located within the grounds of Hotham Park, a public park in Bognor Regis open all year round and established by the founder of Bognor Sir Richard Hotham. Sign is located just inside one of the main gates into the park, at an ideal first meeting point for people to gather and decide where to go. It lists all of the main visiting points and directs people to them. Safe location on paths with no vehicle access

Is it possible to return the stop at all? Or at least know the reason for removal?

Thank you.

It’s just a directional sign, that’s not an eligible wayspot.. although there do seem to be a lot of them about. See Trails & Markers

Now I would argue that it falls somewhere between the first and second examples provided within the Trails & Markers link.

The sign is located within a public park, nothing listed on it is listed on any signs outside the park. It only directs to locations within the park following designated paths or trails. It isn’t of the same designs as signs located outside the park grounds.

Now don’t get me wrong, when I first nominated the waystop it was initially rejected, but I appealed and it was reviewed and accepted.

I just can’t see why it was initially accepted on appeal (which I would assume means it’s been reviewed by someone) but now removed?

Mistakes happen. Even on appeals.

I don’t think this falls under the criteria, as it does not provide directions on a hike trail or alike, but just on objects in the park that can be wayspots themselves, wich would make signs like that redundant.

Anyways, looking at the details, there ARE colored markers on the sign that COULD refer to a hike trail or a footpath. You should check that, and if true, get information on this and resubmit. If not, I think this removal is justified and you should simply look for something else in that area to submit.

Thanks for the appeal, @Alexw80. We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspot.
