Me and a friend have recently been subbing walking trail markers in my area and have been successful with the stops getting accepted and put into the game, a week passed and my friend account was in wayfarer review ( as I think he subbed a lot at one go ) and as a result of this, all of his stops that he’s submitted and had accepted have now been removed. Now with my account I’ve had no warnings, no emails, no submissions under review, just 15+ stops and gyms disappeared last night, the whole community is gutted and a lot of hard work subbing had gone to waste, is there anything I can do to speak against these decisions as the sheer amount of stops that have been removed is more than what my local community has, all of the trails markers must’ve been ok to get accepted, I dunno if they’ve been mass reported reach other or it’s created a area review from my friends account being under review? Can someone please help me or point me to the right direction to appeal against theae decisions… Altogether 30-50+ stops and gyms have been removed
Welcome to the forum. There is a category here to ask for reinstatement of removed Wayspots: Wayspot Appeals
Niantic will not have removed Wayspots without cause, so you will need to provide evidence that they should be restored. Without seeing the Wayspots in question, i would guess the removals could have been for being in ineligible locations, or from being flagged as fakes. If there were property owner requests to remove these, Niantic will not be able to restore them even if you provide evidence.
The submitter does not receive notice of Wayspots being removed unless Niantic feels abuse was committed.
If you want any community advice on these wayspots, you could post the coordinates of one plus a photo.
Maybe you could share a few examples.
Usually if many wayspots are removed it is either if abuse is suspected, or if the property owner has asked to remove them.
My guess then is that these stickers have been reported as fake. This is only a guess, and I am not staff to make a decision on these, to be clear. Staff here will have names that begin with “Niantic”. Do you have any evidence that these stickers are used to mark an official footpath called “Discover Pentre” that you can provide here?
The location would also help to determine what may have been the reason for removal. If you still have the submission email, the coordinates where you submitted this will be after the photos.
(Since this is about footpaths, I will leave any further advice to those of you familiar with them.)
Based on our research, these are fake trail markers that have been put to get Wayspots. PROW doesn’t exist at these locations. If this information is not accurate, you can appeal the removal with additional evidence from official sources.
I also want to remind you that submitting fabricated evidence is considered abuse and may lead to severe consequences on your accounts.
Thanks,
If you can provide the coordinates of the gate with the yellow PROW sticker, that will enable community members to check this location.
There are still several of these fake PROW wayspots in this area and I’m reasonably sure there’s more than this.
Discover Pentre Walk Trail (51.655167,-3.494069)
Disover Pentre Trail Marker #24 (51.655137,-3.493208)
Discover Pentre Trail Marker #9 (51.651147,-3.491307)
For these: OSM does not show a PROW here. rowmaps.com does not show a PROW here.
Out of curiosity, if a PROW is not registered there, is it by definition fake?
Yes, with about 99.999% certainty. The PROW maps are authoritative.
You do have to rely on the maps being updated, but this is rarely a concern. Looking at the location helps - is there any possibility that a new PROW would have been created here? Since new PROWs are extremely rare, the chances of one being created on the streets of Ton Pentre are around 0.0000001%
It’s certainly possible for a non-PROW trail to be created, which wouldn’t appear on the pROW maps, but that’s a different issue requiring different evidence (e.g., ldwa)
Thanks (we really don’t see this in Holland)
I think the PROW system in England and Wales is fairly unique globally.
I even never heard of PROW, just looked it up. I don’t think we have this in the Netherlands but I’m not sure.
Don’t think this has been explained above so for the none UK members this is an official list of “Public Right of Way”.
Basically, is at a Private Farmers Fields or somewhere the public have the right to walk.
yeh and I had one I submitted and was not accepted then it was made into a powerspot exact same photo I used
This is expected behaviour. Accepted Wayspots that are not used as Pokestops are potential Power Spots if they are more than 22m away from an in-game stop or gym.
Edit: I misread -you said ‘not accepted’. Are you sure?
I suspect there’s even more still remaining too. There’s a bunch in a different style under the “Maindy Walk” styling that need looked at as a minimum.
