Web Submission v1 - Discussion

Hi there,

Yes, this is something we’re working on for v2. Still some things to iron out for it

This is so great to see. Hopefully more features can be added as it progresses. I would love to be able to load existing spots after scrolling the map and also, please, please, please increase the range, at least in line to what we are used to from submitting through Ingress.

Thanks for your feedback

We’re already working on loading existing spots after scrolling the map :hourglass_not_done:

Regarding the range, that’s something our Ambassadors also shared with us and the team is considering

I have some POI I would love to add, out in the moors, that I can’t do currently until I get to a pub/cafe that I won’t get back to for a while. In Ingress, I can submit them from home.

Thanks for sharing a very real life example  i’ll be sure to share this with the team as an example when considering

Notice the big improvement?

Sorry for using the term “waypoint” earlier — I meant to say “Wayspot.”

And I want also highlight this improvement

First submission went smoothly and beats the submission flow of the app! One thing I noticed though that after clicking submit, it’ll not tell you that the submission was successful, instead it just activated the “Submit” button again. Sent in 3 identical Wayspots on accident because I thought it timed out or some other error occurred so I clicked the button again

I don’t currently have any submissions to try this out with and I think I’ll prefer doing it on mobile/through the Pokemon GO app so that I get the location exactly right, but this is a great feature for the people that want and need it. I’m really excited to take a look

Thank you to the Wayfarer development team for pushing these Quality of Use improvements! :tada:

The point is that it doesn’t tell submitters they are submitting a “Pokestop” when using this feature! That has been extremely confusing to people who get an email that their nomination was accepted, but it doesn’t become a Pokestop.

Hmmm you should be seeing come confetti and a Submission Complete page. That will act ad the submission successful notice.

Looking forward to your mobile experience feedback.

Can we also add additional supporting photos on the website to submissions we make through Pokemon Go? If not, that would be a feature I would really want.

For instance, rather than linking to the trail map in the supporting information of my trail marker submissions, I would just upload a screenshot of the trail map as a supporting photo. That’d make it a lot easier.

Hey,

I just used the new feature. I really like it!

Let me sum up some very great additions and a improvement.

Great:

  • This works very smoothly and better than the in-game app.
  • It was very easy to find and upload photo’s this way. Especially like the up to 5 photo’s in the supporting image(s)
  • I like that it shows the coordinates up at the top when submitting

Improvements that could be added:

  • Visible other wayspots in far-away areas (already mentioned by several wayfinders)
  • Maybe put a symbol around the spot to indicate what it exactly is like the in-game process, like the pokestop icon around the photo’s we see for pokestops in-game
  • Maybe spots can be set on the map which are currently in-voting, since this new way of submitting opens up a lot more, possible duplicates are more likely by fellow wayfinders, this will avoid that.

Overall a great new feature and really happy with it.

Ideally I’d like to create a draft in-game without photos, and then add the photos later at home. Could this be an option in later versions?

The reason for drafting in-game is because pinning location from a map view is difficult for forested areas and large indoor facilities, so standing there in real life works better. But similarly these locations often have terrible internet connection, so uploading photos is prone to failure and I often have to give up creating nominations for these types of places.

With the 512 character limit for supporting info on the web form, putting several links is now a bit impractical and your screenshot solution might be the only way!

Love that suggestion. So if I’m understanding you correctly, the experience would be:

  1. Start a nomination in Pokémon GO
  2. Add 1 supporting image
  3. Submit nomination and place it on HOLD
  4. Edit nomination and add up to 4 additional photos

Am I understanding you correctly?

You’re good. I was pointing out to others that this version no longer refers to PokeStops. We love that improvement.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, location Permissions enabled in the browser and device settings…. but Wayfarer says no. Have tried with and without Wifi being enabled.

I’ll go and cry in the corner for now.
