Niantic has allowed parks/reserves without signage for ages it’s just gotta obviously Be a park/reserve did one for a freind over 6 months ago and it got accepted and turned into a gym. A month or so ago it dissapeared. So I submitted the other reserve without signage. Got accepted straight away. Now that’s also gone. Why would someone wanna remove a stop? Is there any way I can report this? Like how can they get something that is eligble and one accepted on appeal get removed?
You can appeal the removals in Wayspot Appeals , though the wayfarer team have no control over whether something is reinstated as a gym if it was originally one before.
Meh don’t care about the gym. But thanks
Why not share where they are and what the original nomination was like. People do report wayspots. Sometimes to remove ones so theirs can appear. But as we don’t know we cannot really speculate.
Be interesting to see if it was the way it was written or something else. I have had a couple of pocket parks/reserves accepted without signage. So yeah am interested.
Good luck getting it back ![]()
Interesting to see you got those approved. I tried to get a park approved (no signage) but it got denied pretty much instantly because it’s not distinct or so. Even after I appealed, it still got denied because of lack of historic or cultural significance.. I mean, it’s a park, right.. I’ve seen flagpoles that have been accepted, find the historical or cultural significance in that.. And to be frank, the park I tried to submit was quite more clearly a park than the ones you submitted.
Whether you get something like a park approved is quite random really, and also based on pure luck. In the wayfarer criteria, it clearly states that parks are good wayspots, but as soon as you try to submit one, it all of a sudden is not distinct enough. I wonder what they need from a park in order for it to be distinct.
love it. I can see Cambewarra has a website too. you should add to you nomination supporting info. https://www.campbelltown.nsw.gov.au/Parks-Sport-Recreation/Look-For-a-Park-Sportsground/Cambewarra-Reserve — as does Stromlo https://www.campbelltown.nsw.gov.au/Parks-Sport-Recreation/Look-For-a-Park-Sportsground/Stromlo-Reserve though the photo in the gove website shows a sign but google maps does not. But good to put in. Re Cambewarra. it is an interesting reserve as it also abuts onto James Ruse Park. So people might get confused. The gov website becomes so important here as it calls out walking (exercise) from the reserve to James Ruse Park. The same for Stromlo. It connects to another reserve Cook. So when you have this you have to work your nomination and supporting evidence to prove it exists as well. I would if things don’t go your way. Recommend nomination support and ask for help (include all Subject Description text, supporting and both photos.. But as it stand I see no reason why you cannot get these through. Good luck
Why not use nomination support. Put your full nomination in there. Title, Description, supporting text and both photos. Make it easy and include google map link so easy to view. Ask for help. Several people have had success nominating these. I am sure several people will have advice that could aid a nomination.
Just a note that when a wayspot has been removed it is always better to ask for it to be restored in Wayspot Appeals than to just resubmit it. You don’t want to trigger a punishment for submitting something that has been deemed to be ineligible.
Well, I am pretty new to these forums and had no idea there was such a thing really. Thanks for the tip though, I will most definitely use it from now on :).
Apparently they stand by their removal. Which sucks I’ve asked for a reason and not just I feel like changing the criteria removal desicion
Do you have evidence that these are parks/nature reserves?
Yes they’re listed on the councils website https://www.campbelltown.nsw.gov.au/Parks-Sport-Recreation/Look-For-a-Park-Sportsground/Cambewarra-Reserve
That would be helpful to have included in the appeal. It would be worth adding it there.
That is annoying. But as I mentioned you will need all the evidence you can collect in the supporting such as these links. Particularly stating the local council calling out the walking exercise part of the park.
My suggestion
""So when you nominate a possible waypoint.
This bit is only if using phone to nominate. But if using PC and on the wayfarer website Niantic Wayfarer then feel free to ignore
but the principles still apply
Write brief title, description, supporting (make sure this text is not rubbish but at least relavent). Select what it is (cafe etc) - with photo. /you can take photos before hand. In particular for main photo. Edit so they fit best. Ensuring main part of image showing of the nomination is kinda 4x4 (square is best) Centre what the POI is. you can then upload from your gallery when creating the nom.
BUT DO NOT Upload now. Use the Upload Later. Get home. Log into WayFarer on your PC/Laptop. Go to the Contributions Section. Now on phone click upload now. Refresh the contributions every now and then and after a while your nomination will appear. Put it on Hold. Once in hold you can edit at will.. ((( note every now and then Niantic will grab your nomination before you edit but hey that happens - not often - I just roll my eyes - take it and nominate again
)))
Once on hold. This means you can rewrite the title, description and supporting information. You can do your research. Include weblinks etc to your nominations (include the link to the Niantic criteria clarification for parks) - I even make it easy for the reviewer with a direct link to google street view). Remember in supporting.
Select one of the criteria. Say It is a great place to explore. Because of X Y Z. Or Great Place to Socialise. Because. and remember evidence to support being explore, socialise or exercise goes a long way. DO NOT say make a great pokestop. Or we need more stops Or great for the game etc. That is not evidence or supporting information and is considered trying to sway the reviewer
Before you release hold to put your nomination back into voting. Use the nomination support forum. Include all text, images and include the address. And ask hey how can I improve my nomination. I have often used this forum to great impact. Steadily increasing the quality and subsequent success of my nominations
Once you have your feedback and you ready click - release hold.
Yes boring to have to repeat a nomination. But I have found well researched, supported nominations go a long way
with far great effect and for unsigned parks work very well. Good luck @idionz ![]()
@Jesperkaa86 same advice on your park nominations. If you don’t already do it ![]()
The supporting info idea is great but the same Person/e could just go into it and report it again. I did message on the appeals section and they said yeah we are going keep them removed. Like why give us criteria to follow if they won’t? I will message them with more info again.
Yes they could. BUT. Once you have full supporting information. Alongside great photos and good description. It can be a lot harder for nominations to get removed. And when you appeal. You can point to the evidence. It then puts more onus on the reporter to ensure they are right. As @salixsorbus said those links support the appeal. If they are in the original nomination even better.
@idionz can you include the text that says we will keep removing these? Please
And FYI I have spent a long time on some nominations getting rejected all the time. I got there in the end. As I said in my long note. Use nomination support to create a better nomination. Even the discussion points that were negative. As that all helps understand how people may view your nominations. Anyway… Good luck.
