Pokestop disappeared

about 2 weeks ago I had a pokestop accepted and it was added in game after appeal. Yesterday I had a second stop accepted in the cell next to it and this was added to the game overnight, however the first stop that I had accepted has now disappeared.

they are the only 2 waypoints in the large cell so the second should have become a gym in go. Is it normal for one stop to disappear in game for a time before it becomes a gym?

No, it is not normal for one stop to disappear in game before it becomes a gym. If the stop has been promoted to a gym, then you still see the pokestop, but with a white ring around it, until you restart your game.

It sounds like your first Wayspot may have been moved or removed. If you would like to leave information about that one, we could better advise whether this seems to be what has happened. The location would be helpful, as well as screenshots of the nomination from your contributions page.

(53.5199246, -2.5365496) That’s around where it was but can’t get exact coordinates since it’s gone.
The new one is showing as ‘not in game’ on wayferer as well but it is in the game

The Wayfarer Map has to sync to show the game status. It will catch up.

You can get the exact coordinates from the initial submission receipt email - they are underneath the photos towards the bottom of the email.

Okay so it was for the pond? Can you show the main photo? This does sound like something that someone may have reported for removal. You may have to make an appeal for reinstatement in Wayspot Appeals . If you do that, you will need to make the arguments again that it meets criteria, and does not meet any rejection criteria, like safe pedestrian access.

Thanks, the coordinates are 53.519954, -2.536525

Yeah, I was honestly surprised it got accepted but it was accepted by appeal which I assumed meant someone from niantic had actually looked at it and said it was okay :man_shrugging:t2:

Hmm
I see why someone would have reported this seeing the there is no physical marker there, but I am surprised that this met removal criteria after being approved by staff.

That doesn’t mean anything. Just like regular reviewers they can be very wrong about reviews. They are not like judges where a decision is final or expected to be very correct all the time

is there a way to find out if it was reported and what the reason was for removal?

Wayspots can be removed for being completely ineligible, even if they physically exist, are safely accessible and not on SFPRP/schools/etc.

Generally no. Niantic will post in response if a wayspot has been blocked/removed due to a request from the property owner, but if it was reported by a player, this isn’t advertised.

It doesn’t look like the case with this but if this is an official “Fishing Pond” could it have been reported by the “Fishing Club” as they don’t want you “Scaring the Fish”

Maybe another reason was that your locations was off by :rightwards_pushing_hand:___________ :leftwards_pushing_hand: this much

The location was right next to the water, don’t know how much closer I could get it unless you want me to go swimming

Sorry, was a bad pun. Playing off the “Exaggerating Fisherman” stereotype. “I hooked a fish but it snapped the line, It was this size (stretching arms out wide)”

absolutely. i was just “surprised” if one staff member accepted it in the first place and another decided it did meet removal criteria, which usually seems to be stricter than acceptance criteria, but which Aaron has mentioned is shared internally, so we don’t actually know what it is.

i stopped typing when i saw a wayfarer ambassador was replying. the property owner request is also a possibility.

No worries lol
Its public land so shouldn’t be any issues with property owner asking for removal.
Thanks for your help anyway!

This location is unlikely to get a removal request from the property owner, but public land can definitely get blocked.

The council or whoever manages the land might get reports of problems from large clusters of people getting in the way of other users. There are public places where this has happened and wayspots have been demoted, I just don’t have any examples to hand.
