I know, it’s a wild but funny question, has anyone here encountered a wild boar while submitting Waystops or playing a Niantic game?
Thats what happened to me half an hour ago. I was 15 meters away from two really big wild boar while playing Pokémon Go and submitting wayspots and they got nervous because they realized I was there, so I streatched out my arms and went back slowly. Luckily they weren’t after me so I could walk away
In general, what were your craziest experiences while submitting wayspots?
I have been fussed by a couple of cats, that’s about as crazy as it gets in the UK
I was taking pictures of a banquet hall I was about to submit, when the owner and another staff member came out to ask what I was up to, concerned. I couldn’t pull the bullshit explanation out, flustered, so I told them outright: “both your building and the bowling alley next door could be Pokestops in Pokemon Go. I’m just trying to make that happen!”
The second staff member’s eyes widened, and he leaned in. “I could have one I can spin from work?”
In the end, they got one, and the bowling alley got two, as I was able to get the arcade inside as a separate one. But I’m just glad they didn’t yell at me for photographing.
Not a boar, but I was recently submitting some trail markers and at two separate points I had a cow and a deer come fairly close and investigate what I was doing whilst I was taking my pictures. I just let them go about their own business. The deer scarpered after a bit as its timid nature got the better of it, but the cow just stood there the whole time until I was done and walked away from where it was stood.
Not even joking that happened to me last October. I ran like crazy (not what you’re supposed to do)
I ran across these guys a few weeks ago.
My closest thing to this was while I was taking a picture of a local old school barbershop I submitted, the barber ran out, scissors still in hand, asking me what I was up to. I probably could have been fully up front like @darkersolstice, but all I could muster was, “I’m taking pictures of cool downtown buildings–hope that’s OK!” They gave me a good long look, said “OK” and went back inside.
(The Wayspot got accepted, so totally worth being questioned at scissor-point.)
