What's the Policy on Amenity Center's?

Hi everyone,

I’m pretty new to Wayfarer and have been submitting PokéStops for about two months. I’ve had around 23 nominations accepted so far, which has been exciting, but I’m trying to better understand why one of my recent nominations was rejected.

In my local neighborhood, there is an apartment/community amenity area that appears in Pokémon GO as a Power Spot. It has a pool, lounge/clubhouse area, picnic/cooking space, and nearby park-style amenities.

I submitted a similar amenity area in a friend’s neighborhood. It includes a community pool, fitness center, resident lounge/clubhouse, picnic area, and nearby outdoor amenities. However, the nomination was quickly rejected by the automated process.

I understand that Power Spots may not follow the same rules as Wayfarer-accepted Wayspots, so I’m not assuming that the Power Spot means my nomination should automatically be eligible. I’m mainly trying to understand how best to nominate this type of location.

Would this be better submitted as a specific feature, such as the community pool, fitness center, or clubhouse/lounge, rather than as the overall “Amenity Center”? Also, could the rejection have been caused by the photo, wording, or the nomination being too broad?

I’d appreciate any advice on how to improve the title, description, supporting statement, or photo selection before trying again. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

We don’t know exactly what the Machine Learning model that is the automated process is looking for. I am surprised it rejected this, but I seem to have found the exact photo online with a Google search, and using third party photos is not allowed:

These clubhouses/amenity centers are great places to be social, and do meet criteria. I would resubmit with a new photo you take yourself.

Thanks! I like the good quality photos like these and use my own taken on site for the supporting, figured it makes the in-game look nice. Didn’t realize that was a no-no. I’ll try the not as good one I took myself and let you all know!

Yah the photos are pretty but using someone else’s photos to make money without thier permission is illegal. As game players we gave permission to Niantic/Scoply to use whatever photos and video we take. This is why they made the rule. Also copying text from a website for the description is plagiarism so try to make up your own words or paraphrase.

You are lucky that you only got rejection. using 3rd party foto is subject to abuse ladder system and can get suspension
