So a pokestop was accepted, the stop showed in game and then a day or so later it disappeared. How do I find out what happened to it?
Only staff would be able to confirm this but if you show the complete nomination we may be able to suggest the most possible reasons.
Sometimes nominations are accepted incorrectly then if seen by staff or reported by other wayfarers it could be removed.
Good Luck.
Umm how do I do that?
Go to Niantic Wayfarer
Open the nomination.
Take screen grabs.
Post them.
As I said, we will not be able to confirm but we will be able to suggest if it was likely removed if it should not have been accepted.
Alternatively, copy and paste the Title and Co-ordinates (found in the email you get when you nominate).
Staff can sometimes be very vague along the lines of âSome accepted by reviewers are later removed by staffâ so I canât guarantee that you will get an answer that gives you all the details.
If it wasnât one you submitted, just describe what you remember about it and an approximate location. you can get gps coordinates by right clicking on google maps in the general area.
OH! I remember this one. I said I was surprised the appeals team accepted it. I doubt we will learn what happened here, but possibly the appeal decision was reviewed and overturned? Either that or someone saw the live pokestop and reported it - either in person or on the map - or a property owner had an issue with a pokestop in that location and requested removal. Only staff could tell us what exactly happened here, and they donât usually elaborate.
Yep. There is no property owner as the nearest house is about 100 feet away. So most likely it got reported. Still doesnât make sense since every other community sign is exactly the same as this one. So why this one was removed and not any of the others is weird.
I agree that the inconsistency is frustrating. I do wish Niantic would issue a clarification. I just want to be submitting and reviewing consistently with what they want on the map.
Probably should go around and report all the others and get everything in this town removed I guess. Donât want anyone playing this game here. ÂŻ_(ă)_/ÂŻ
</end sarcasm>
Ya. If they had clear rules vs âopen interpretationsâ itâd probably go a lot smoother.
It might be unlikely but someone owns the property - it is not confined to households.
Perhaps? But itâs unlikely in these âMcCommunityâ hoods. The only place that would be possibly regulated is the community center and pool/playground. This place is faaaaaar from anything. So again, probably someone who is a Pokemon go pokestop control freak. ÂŻ_(ă)_/ÂŻ
Just trying to make this backwoods hood more fun for the kids in the hood but guess we canât have too much fun out here. lol

My best guess would be that it met removal criteria due to the lack of sidewalks here. Although Courtland Village is a neighborhood road, since there arenât houses super close, Iâd bet people scream up that section of road (which is why a lot of neighborhoods end up with speed bumps). And The Woods Road looks like people would drive even faster.
But as everyone else said, we can never know why the Wayfarer Team did things unless they tell us, which they often decline to do.
If that were the case, 80% of all community signs would be removed. There are two one the same street that are also similar (no sidewalks, main road) and oneâs a gym. On the road.
Here this is the literal end of the road. It goes into the hood with a speed limit of 10 mph.
And woods road is notorious for deer so no screaming. Itâs a calm quiet backwater hood.
It is what it is.

I have edited out some inappropriate phrasing. We try to remain respectful to all wayfinders.
There are quite a few stops nearby
Lots of nice walks in woods by the look of it.
There is a house very close to the sign. Itâs not on their property but perhaps they were not happy
There is what should be an easy submit at the community pool that I have circled and itâs right in the heart of the houses rather than at the edge that might be a good spot.
Was not aware I was being disrespectful to anyone. Apologies if anyone was offended. It was not my intention.
Those woods are not appropriate for Pokemon hunting or raiding. The park is a literal forest and used occasionally for hunting. It is a deer infested (and thereby tick infested) area. (You can read reviews on that park on the Loudoun County Parks and Rec website where people complain about their pets coming out completely covered in ticks and vowing never to go back). I would not go in there without an air conditioned hazmat suit.
It is so rarely used that mons sit in those gyms for months. Iâve seen a few in there for over a year. Why someone placed stops and gyms in that park is beyond me. No one goes in there that I know of and itâs not meant for groups to use for raids as gyms are far far apart and you have to climb over rocks, fallen trees and brush just to get to them. Thereâs one main road to get to the back of the park and thatâs where the park staff work. The open area on the bottom right is for drone flying thatâs never used. And no Pokemon groups have ever ventured in there. I would never take anyone in there or recommend it.
Thatâs why I was trying to make the hood a little more game friendly for the kids here since itâs far from anything Pokemon related (that wonât give you Lyme disease).
