Why a generic POI is more important than areal one?

Recently a lot of POI like this have popped up where I live. They usually show a generic photo and the address as its title. But I’m starting to feel very annoyed by the community system and what seems to be arbitrary criteria of eligibility.

I often try to suggest proper information to it, including titles and other related information, to make it more interesting, but it’s always rejected.

A few months ago I tried to contribute with a new POI for a big ice cream shop that opened at this address. The place is always open, especially on weekends; the community is present (players or not), but it was rejected. Out of the blue, a new POI as generic as possible appeared right where I submitted it before. Why bother?

This week, I tried to submit its correct information (title, photos, description), but it was rejected AGAIN. It’s very frustrating to keep contributing and working to grow my local community with an awful system as this “playing” against the users – and it gets worse when we have to go speak another language to try to appeal for a human to check it out when the automatic system fails to do what it should’ve done to help. And I’m saying this because a lot of my POIs were rejected first to be later approved by a human or this ridiculous system.

Anyway, here’s the info for another appeal:

Welcome to the forums

I can’t speak to the community rejections, but this photo belongs to an imported wayspot, not one that was accepted by the community, as is the case for a few other wayspots here. The ones imported by Niantic don’t have to follow the same rules and don’t have to have the same type of photo.

You can have a look at Niantic Wayfarer, go to an area and click on each wayspot. There will be an icon at the right under the image to indicate community-submitted or imported.

This is imported:

This is community-submitted:

Thanks for the appeal, @arttorvic! We took another look at the Wayspot in question and decided that it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.
