Out of 8 spots submitted only three get put into the game. What is the purpose of this??? Why not just put the game elements into the game so it can be played?? [mod edit to remove unneeded phrase] How are we supposed to build our community when half of our stops get turned into NOTHING and half of what is left becomes worthless power stops?

Powerspots are not useless as they are a key part of the game now, even if not everyone uses them.
Pokemon Go has rules to prevent pokestops being too crowded together. This is both to assist with gameplay, as it is really hard to interact with pokestops and gyms when they are very close together, and also to encourage exploration, as people donât need to explore if they can stand in one spot and reach lots of pokestops and gyms.
Welcome to the forum!
I understand your frustration. Staff have allowed me to post this topic, which may help explain: Why an accepted Wayspot may not be used in Pokemon Go (S2 cells and Pokemon Go)
Knowledge about S2 cells should only help you understand if a Wayspot is eligible to be used as a Pokestop or gym. Abuse of that knowledge to pin away from where the point of interest actually is isnât tolerated.
I can understand that they donât want too many pokestops in one area. But I can find a hundred areas in my own town with more dense pokestops closer together than this one area. This area is undergoing a multi-year conversion into a âtown centerâ kind of area with a new park opening this summer and this whole area around here is going to be more walking-friendly with trails, underpasses on the roads, etc. There will be TONS of potential wayspots but it is really infuriating that >we are somehow limited in pokestop density, when I can go to any park or mall near here and see tons of pokestops clumped all together much closer than what we are trying to do here. I guess the rules are different depending on either who you are or where you are.
Absolutely not.
Years ago, it was possible to create pokespots in empty cells and then move them into occupied cells, while keeping both pokestops. This was abused to create extremely dense areas with ridiculous numbers of gyms close together.
Most of these areas have been cleaned up.
Some areas have lots of pokestops simply because every cell has a pokestop. On average, pokestops can be 50-60 meters apart, but you will get small clusters where they are near the corners of their cells.
There is no favouritism to any players or areas.
Not true. The S2 cell rules are the same everywhere. A busier setting could have more sponsored spots.
If you would like to leave the locations, I am happy to show you the relevant S2 cells there.
If you get a wayspot in nearly every cell, you will have more pokestops than you need.
The rules for PokĂ©mon GO inclusion are the ones that have been shared to you by @cyndiepooh , and are the same for everyone both worldwide and locally. I suggest reading them, because it explains why there can be wayspots that appear to be close, but are actually in distinct cells. There can be clusters that are created through previous edit abuse or technical glitches, but there definitely isnât any personal preference in line with the accusations you are making.
This is a Wayfarer forum though, and if you are invested in changing the Pokémon GO selection algorithm, this request would be better addressed to the Pokémon GO team. Wayfarer only takes care of the database, how various games use them is up to their management.
One thing to note is, the game developers can override the placement rules in a limited area, either to install âsponsoredâ locations (such as Starbucks locations, and formerly McDonalds locations, in the US), or to install temporary stops and gyms for Niantic-hosted in-person events (I personally observed several around Petco Park in San Diego, relating to the event held there March 1stâŠ. notably they all appeared at once on the previous Tuesday).
So you might be seeing a location that is subject to that sort of âmeddlingâ and thinking itâs normal⊠itâs not.
That said⊠S2 grids permitting, itâs possible to get pretty dense. I know of a location where I can be in range of 3 regular stops and 2 gyms all at once, and they are all community submitted ones (in fact four of the five are ones I submitted personally).
