Why Are Ineligible Nominations Like Wall Tiles Being Accepted?

Well, I wanted to share two screenshots from my review section. Out of the three nominations shown:

One is a mosque that has already been accepted (which is fine).

Another one is a platform outside the mosque, which might be used as an Eidgah – it’s currently under review.

The last one is just the mosque wall tiles, and that one has already been accepted.

I’ve seen many similar cases—wall tiles, platforms, and other things like that being accepted or in review. Should I be reporting these? And how are such things even getting approved in the first place?

I don’t understand what the problem is. That “Fountain Mural” you have highlighted looks like beautiful art to me.

Well, it is the inside wall of “Bor Doll Bazar Kendriya woali Jame Masjid”. Did you got it? it’s already accepted and there is no “Fountain Mural”

The Masjid is already accepted, and another one is under review. And The masjid’s inside wall is accepted as “Fountain Mural” far from the masjid, is this okay?

I am not familiar with masjids. But I know that stained glass windows can be accepted as art separately from a church building. So I think this would be the same situation. The building is submitted as a great place to worship and the tile is submitted as art. I will leave any more comments to people from the area. I am so glad you are here asking questions!

Hi
I am moving this to review support as that seems more appropriate.

Because your pictures are unclear ( just the way things are with screenshots) it is not easy to establish what is happening here.
Tile art can be perfectly acceptable as it is just another artistic medium.
But what you are saying is it has nothing specifically to do with the artwork but rather this art work has been misplaced to create a totally separate wayspot.
Have I understood correctly?

Yeah

Ok so you could request a location change via help chat to its correct location. Using help chat enables you to provide photo evidence of the correct location.

How can I do that? Also it’s 12-13hour far from me, I found this on Review section and took screenshot, as this kind of wayspot are common. Like using masjid wall art different places far from the masjid.

This shows where the help bubble is that you can use for moves greater than 10m. You don’t have to be there.
What evidence did you have that convinced you it was from that mosque? Is it visible on street view? or on the submission pictures?

Thanks for your question. Honestly, I don’t know how to respond with certainty about the exact connection between the tile design and the mosque—it wasn’t clearly visible in the submission photos or on Street View. That’s actually part of why I asked.

From what I’ve seen, 9 out of 10 mosques in this region use similar tile art on their walls, so it’s hard to say if it’s something unique or just a common design style. Someone in another reply mentioned that it could be acceptable if the tile is treated as separate artwork, kind of like how stained glass is accepted separately from churches. That was helpful context!

I also checked the Google Maps location, and it doesn’t seem very close to the mosque—it’s on a different road, while the actual mosque is by the main road. That raised even more questions for me.

Mainly, I’ve been seeing a lot of similar nominations in the review queue—tiles, walls, etc.—and I just wanted to understand if they’re really valid or if I should be reporting them.

Appreciate the info and support from everyone here!

In my opinion only edit location if know where is the real location. Or you can just simply say i dont know

If the submission location is /clearly/ wrong, due toplacing it on a different road to get a second wayspot for a building that already has one, deny it as incorrect location or as abuse.

I usually just choose “incorrect location.” If i see pattern, or if there is something like “please don’t move the pin” in the supporting section, then i might add “abuse.” I usually also write something in the text box explaining my vote in case Niantic reviews my review. The submitter won’t see what you write.
