A map view of my spots

Hi cyndiepooh. Can you help check mine out ? I have 5 accepted nominations but only 2 show up. They are indeed quite near to each other. Here’s one of the coordinates : (1.471954, 103.867993)

I understand the S2 cell rule limitations but your help would greatly satisfy my curiosity. Thank you in advance ! :folded_hands:

Hello and welcome to the forum @hzrnhzn7

I moved your request to a new topic to keep things tidy. And this way you can have a more tailored conversation if you’d like :grinning_cat_with_smiling_eyes:

Thanks !

This is the cell boundaries for that area. Each cell can only have one pokestop/gym in Pokemon Go.

You will need to work out where your submissions were exactly. The wayspots shown on this are from May 2025 - more may have been added since.

Thank you @salixsorbus ! Is the thicker line the boundary for Level 14 cells ?

Just for a little more reference, I have taken a screenshot that shows a red pin at the coordinates you gave. This one shows the L14 cells involved in determining gyms outlined in green. This is near a junction of 4 of these larger cells:

And this is a closer closeup of the four L17 (smaller) cells that determine if something can be a Pokestop or gym at all:

I think you already know this, but for anyone who doesn’t, this map only ever showed portals, not all Wayspots, and has not updated since the split with Scopely in May. The cell lines are accurate though, and you can check for existing Wayspots that don’t show here in the nomination map screen with the toggle on. Then there is my usual disclaimer I add that people should only use the cell information to know where to look for points of interest, not to just place pins there. Sometimes people misunderstand me on that.

I understand. 4 of my accepted submissions are in the same L17 cell. Thank you for the clarification.
I have one follow up question. Are there any specific cell rules for the power spots ?

Powerspots come from two sources. I won’t address the imported ones, since that only happened once. For Wayspots you or others have added, they need to be in an occupied smaller cell, and they need to be 22m away from an existing Pokestop or gym. The blue outer ring this tool shows indicates this distance:

Powerspots are not added with a daily sync. There has been a sync on the 4th of the month most months since it became regular, but it was skipped in November. And when they are added, they are added to the pool of powerspots that can be rotated through, so it might not be obvious right away.

(All this information is from community observation, except for the fact that some Powerspots are imported and can’t be used any other way.)
