Abusive wayspots in the same S2 L17 cell

  • Wayspot Title: 春江园靈法堂

  • Location (lat/lon): 5.3186320, 100.4749020

  • City: Penang, Bukit Mertajam

  • Country: Malaysia

  • Additional Information (if any): Certain players in our area is trying to manipulate creation of wayspot and approved by his own multiple accounts. And this is one of the wayspot which he created purposely for his own benefit which close to his housing area.

  1. He purposely edit the location which is closer to his housing area which ended up become more than one active pokestop in the same S2 L17 cell which against the wayspot creation rules from Niantic.

  2. The temple is no longer open and already shut down and become a private residential house. There are owner who is currently staying in this house.

(I could provide a better quality of photo as the owner is there when I am capturing the photo)

There are many wayspot which is created abusively by the same group of players.

They nominated a wayspot on the L17 cells, approved by they own large numbers of multiple accounts, edited location which is benefit to them, and again approved using theirs multiples account, and REPEAT.

I am not sure is this a right thing to do in wayfarer but this group of people is surely makes tons of inconveniences and fake nominations in our area.

I wish the community could give a look and Niantic team can reconsider the existence of this wayspot.

Would like to seek for the opinion from Ambassadors and other Wayfarers :folded_hands:

Thanks in advance and appreciate your time

This is completely incorrect. An S2 L17 cell can have an unlimited number of wayspots. Only one of these will appear as a pokestop/gym in Pokemon Go.

Please also note that the pokestop creation rules are what the community has determined, but have never been confirmed by Niantic.

Thanks for the clarification :folded_hands:

I think I made a mistake saying it were more than one “wayspots”. The fact is, there are two active pokestop in the Pokémon go map in the same cell which is entirely different from what I know regarding the eligibility of the pokestop creation.

That’s also why I would like to ask for more info and asking whether this situation is normal.

(I shall make the edit to my description)

Please leave out all the accusations against another player and tell us what you are trying to report about this Wayspot. Does it exist, and is it in the correct location? Two Wayspots being live in PoGo in the same L17 S2 cell is not normal behavior, but is not something that is reason for removal of one of them.

The “rule” about only one pokestop/gym per S2 L17 cell is one that the Pokemon Go community have established with a lot of data points to analyse. It was being broken early on by wayspots being approved in one location and then moved into a populated cell (the developers of Pokemon Go took many years to implement checking pokestop-density rules when a wayspot is moved), so there were a lot of “illegal” clusters.

However, they have been recent threads on this forum where a player has queried why an S2 L17 cell has got two active pokestops/gyms and Niantic have been responding that everything is as expected.

Therefore there is /something/ more than the L17 “rule”, but I do not think anyone has worked out what this is.

That aside, as @cyndiepooh alluded, how Pokemon Go treats wayspots has no relevance to whether they need to be removed or not, so two pokestops in a single cell is no reason to get one of them removed as a wayspot.

Couldn’t agree more.

That’s why I wonder how Niantic and wayfarer side treat this situation. There is more than one case similar to this in our area.

We are currently facing many wayspot being nominated in the other cells and then move to the occupied cells where more than 1 active pokestop exist.

Some players in the area purposely doing this and I am not sure this is one of the abusive behaviour.

Thanks for your kind opinion :folded_hands:

Yeah, I am looking for this info and wish to get some little ideas on this “rule”

Been nominating the wayspot of pass 6 years but still have no clue on this”multiple active pokestop in occupied cell”. (Not sure whether they are legit, abusive and simply just a bug)

As a community we can only go on our observations hence we have the conclusions about S2 cells. However it is a system and quirks can happen in any system.

If you are seeing repeated cases of deliberate malicious creation and movement of wayspots please do report these.

Give as much detail and evidence as possible. The Wayfarer Team take these seriously and will investigate and take action if warranted.

Thanks for the appeal, @Victor0427! We took another look at the Wayspot in question and decided that it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.
