I need your help regarding the addition of a PokéStop in the game. I recently nominated a location, and my request was accepted on November 30, 2024, but unfortunately, the PokéStop hasn’t appeared on the map yet.
Location details:
• Coordinates: 26.210892, 50.212871
• Address: Tabacco
Does anyone know why this might be happening?
Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Can you please also provide the name and/or photo of the Wayspot?
Most likely, it was accepted as a Wayspot but considered “too close” to the “Raining Colors Mural” PokéStop.
Pokémon GO has “density rules” that tries to keep the game board from being too congested. Even when accepted, nominations go through an automated filtering by Pokémon GO. As your email says,
Remember that not all accepted nominations will appear in all Niantic games
Yes, the “Raining Colors Mural” is indeed close to the location I nominated, but it’s inside a nearby building. My nomination, “Tabacco,” is right next to it.
What should I do to get my nomination added to the game? Should I submit a new request through the game to add this location, or is there another way to proceed?
What Gendi is pointing out is because it is to close it wont show up im game due to the mural. Pokemon go works off of specific distance inclusion rules. As you can see here:
Both wayspots fall inside the same ‘cell’. Only 1 wayspot in a cell will be a pokestop. Any additionals could show up as power spots tho.
Not saying you intend to but wanted to add in since you do appear to be newer to wayfarer: do not submit duplicate submissions for wayspots or put the location pin at an inaccurate location purly to meet the distance inclusion rules. This is seen as abuse and can result in action being taken upon your accounts up to bans. So make sure your submissions(especially location pins) are accurate to the item being submitted.
I would recommend looking at this article for cell info: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/ so you can better understand what I am talking about. The tool I am using for the picture representation is IITC with a pogo map plugin. Also worth researching into since it can help you plan submissions. Makes it less of a guessing game. Now I more so focus on “is there anything in this free cell that meets the criteria(Great place to socialize/exercise/explore) and doesnt meet any rejection criteria?” Lately ive been more focused on just anything that meets criteria to help with powerspots though. Hope this helps some and best of luck on your future submissions!
Wayfarer itself has no proximity rules, so any nomination that gets accepted will be added to the wayfarer database, but each of Niantic’s games do have proximity rules that limit what can sync over from the database into that specific game.
So your nomination meets the requirements to become a wayspot, but it won’t be able to show in Pokémon Go as a Pokéstop or Gym because it’s in the same Level 17 S2 Cell as an existing Pokéstop or Gym. If you tried to resubmit it, it would just be marked as a duplicate because it is already a wayspot.
Just be sure to always pin the location of your nominations exactly where they are located in real life, and never move the pin for your nomination away from the actual point of interest just so it can show in a game. Doing so is considered abuse and can have consequences like having your account suspended.
I can assure you 100% that the location I selected is accurate and matches the real-world location. I was very careful when placing the pin. For your information, this is not the first time I’ve submitted a PokéStop nomination. Recently, I submitted multiple locations, and two of them were accepted and added to the game map.
Regarding the proximity of nominated locations, every time I explore my city, I often find two PokéStops very close to each other! From what I understand based on your previous comments, the game does accept both nominations, but not all of them appear on the map.
If you’d like, I can share photos of similar cases from the game later today to help clarify my point.
I’m not close enough to this on Pokémon GO to show so it’s an Ingress screenshot.
However one of these is a gym in Pokémon GO, and the other one is a PokéStop. They are very close, but because they are in separate S2 L17 cells, they both meet the inclusion rules that Pokémon GO uses.
For this, as mentioned, each game has inclusion rules but it’s not the game accepting them, it’s reviewers or Niantic/ML accepting them.
They all appear on the Niantic Lightship/Niantic Spatial map and remain in that database. The games then sync from that database in to their own game maps, and apply their inclusion rules. As I noted, for Pokémon GO, it’s about the cells. For Ingress, it’s about distance (20m from an existing Portal).
You weren’t aware of the S2 cells and said you would place things spaced adequately apart. I wasn’t accusing you of anything, just clarifying that you have to be careful and not place a pin so that it is “at a sufficient distance.”
I always ensure accuracy when pinning locations on the map. I would never pin anything that isn’t accurate. I’m simply sharing what I see in the game (two PokéStops right next to each other!).
Like @Leedle95 did, I also try to add a cautionary statement when I talk about cells. These forum links often get shared, and I have had plenty of times when people said that I told them to pin in an empty cell. I believe that you are pinning accurately, and looking in real life for nominations that exist in empty cells, but also want to make sure no one else sees this response and thinks that they should put the pin in an empty cell regardless of where the object actually is located.
I am so happy that Niantic is allowing us to freely share the S2 cell information here to help avoid frustration!
Have you had the chance to read about S2 cells? It’s possible for two, three, even four Pokestops to be right next to each other, as long as they are in different level 17 S2 cells.
i don’t think this comment is harsh, just facts. i also like to make it clear that you can’t just put something in an empty cell when i explain about S2 cells. the op did not make this mistake.
if you mean it is harsh on niantic’s side, they have a ladder policy for abuses like this, and usually won’t ban for a first offense - but they can if they think it is bad enough:
