Hello everyone,
I’ve submitted several PokéStops in my area before, and up until now they’ve always appeared in Pokémon GO on the same day or the following day after being accepted, usually between 7–9 p.m. local time (Germany).
I did have a few exceptions before I learned about S2 cells, so I messed up a couple of submissions back then (most of those are now Power Spots though).
Now I have two Wayspots that were accepted and placed in empty S2 cells, but unfortunately they haven’t shown up in the game yet. One was accepted 7 days ago and the other 2 days ago and until now, everything I submitted usually appeared in-game within 24–48 hours.
Does anyone have an idea what might be going on, or is anyone else experiencing the same issue right now? The two Wayspots are a playground and a “Street of Children’s Rights” sign in front of a church.
I appreciate any feedback
Hi! Do you see them on the Pokémon GO nomination process submission map when on-site?
Would you be ok with sharing the coordinates?

Thanks for the suggestion!
I’ll go to both locations and check if I can see them on the Pokémon GO nomination map when I’m on-site.
I visited both locations, and they each have a red exclamation mark on the nomination map. It looks like both Wayspots were slightly moved and are now in the same S2 cell as another PokéStop.
Does anyone know why something like this happens? They’re no longer exactly at their original spots, which I find a bit strange.
The orange exclamation points mean that they are in an occupied L17 S2 cell, so they cannot be stops/gyms in PoGo.
Keep in mind that reviewers are able to move locations during review, if they find one that is more accurate. You can’t place nominations solely to get them into the game, as this is considered inaccuracy and map manipulation, which are considered abuse.

That’s your answer then. As @DTrain2002 said above - reviewers can correct the position in review.
If these were moved to a location that is more correct than the actual location of the object IRL (not from the point of view of what would give you a Pokéstop in-game), there isn’t much you can do. If there is evidence of these now being misplaced, then they can likely be moved to correct locations. Again happy to try to piece together what happened if you have coordinates on-hand.

Thank you both so much for the detailed explanations that really helped a lot! I wasn’t fully aware of how the in-game map and S2 cells worked before.
It’s possible that the exact spot was a bit hard to identify on Google Maps, so the location might have been adjusted slightly during review. I’ll try to get one of the two Wayspots moved back to the correct position with supporting photos, but the other one might be harder to fix.
And just to clarify I never try to abuse the system or submit things just to get them into Pokémon GO. I always aim to place nominations as accurately as possible.
Thanks again for your help and for explaining everything so clearly!

Not at all suspecting anyone of anything - it’s really just part of our standard disclaimer since we have these conversations a lot and many people are surprised by warnings for mispinning things, and also for the benefit of anyone silently reading along.
Let us know if you run into difficulties with the location edits - good luck.
