Both on my wayfarer’s account as within Pokemon Go I got a warning, and while both warnings state to check the email with further explanation, I did not receive any.
And I would really like to know what I did wrong? Where can I find the reason?
Welcome to the forum, and I am sorry it is under these circumstances. This is the second instance I have seen today of not receiving the explanation emails. Have you checked all your folders, including spam? Do you ever log in with a different email?
Have you submitted a nomination recently? If so, are you able and willing to share the nomination with us?
I have shared the details through a DM. Please check that at your convenience.
Hi,
Yes. In the meantime I know it is indeed about a nomination. Apparent reason: “ You have submitted this Wayspot away from its correct location to manipulate the gameboard.”
I don’t understand as the map which is present in the nomination shows the correct location pinned…
Attached: the nominated utilities cabinet with street art on it, the map with the nominated location ( see also the address below it) and a picture I just took from Google Streetview where you can see the item situated at the exact same address?
Thanks for the dm. I still did not get the warning email, and yes I checked all my folders including the spam folder…
As explained above as a reply to P1dg3ySlayer I don’t get it.
I only started exploring recently and I enjoyed it, but receiving a harsh warning without a valid reason takes the fun out of it to be honest…
Judging by the screenshot you shared and the actual map, you did place the nomination too far to the west and not on the actual object. The correct location of the object appears to be around 50.863689,4.705701, whilst your pin appears to be closer to 50.863757,4.705488.
Your location happens to be in an empty Level 17 S2 Cell, whilst the correct location is in a Level 17 S2 Cell that already contains an existing wayspot. So if I had to guess, whoever was reviewing this behaviour at Niantic may have had reason to believe you were deliberately trying to misplace the wayspot to get it to appear in Pokémon Go when it otherwise shouldn’t have done. Not saying that’s for sure, as I’m not Niantic, but I imagine you can see why this seems at least a little bit suspicious?
Please tell me that you didn’t misplace a pin for cell advantage! Niantic has allowed us to explain about how Pokemon Go uses S2 cells here, which has helped so many frustrated explorers learn why some of their accepted “Pokestop” nominations go live and some don’t. Use cell knowledge ONLY to know where to look for things to submit, not to put pins where they aren’t.
Ok, so I’ll try and be fair on this one. The location of your nomination doesn’t match the exact location of where the nomination is. If this is done deliberately, then the abuse warning may be fair, and you may need to take this on the chin and learn from it.
If it was accidental, you can appeal it, but the burden on ensuring the nomination is accurate is on the submitter.
If you feel that the warning is unwarranted, you do have the option to appeal it at the link below:
You cannot appeal here in the forums, but this link provides you with the option to do so.
To be honest I have no idea about an existing wayspot? I nominated with an upload from within Pokemon Go, and at that place there is no PokeStop. So I pinned where I was standing at that moment.
Regarding these cells, I’m probably stupid but I have no idea what you are talking about. It’s also not mentioned in the manual for submitting a nomination in the Pogo app?
This is the nomination that exists in the same cell as your nomination.
I can’t assert that you manipulated the nomination to get a new Pokestop. Several things could have contributed to the issue.
- Poor Mobile Signal or Mobile not able to triangulate an accurate location resulting in GPS inaccuracy.
- You were in the upload screen prior to arriving to the location, which will lead to Pokemon Go considering you being at the location at the point you entered the upload section.
- You may have zoomed into the map or accidentally touched the map screen resulting in the location being moved.
It is entirely possible it was accidental if it was 2 or 3, and out of your control if 1 was the case.
I still don’t get the meaning of cell advantage, I will definitely look it up and look into it. But do you think I would share the map screenshots here if I was willingly doing something wrong?
I don’t think you would, but the information has helped us identify why it was considered as abuse, even if it wasn’t done intentionally. Plus it’s not beyond reason that people will abuse the system to their advantage.
How do I check that in the future? Is there a map we can download?
I have to be careful about saying use Ingress (Niantic Game) and the intel map as a means to determine what is occupied in each cell. If that’s not appropriate for me to say, I’ll be happy to take a slap on the wrist.
Anyway, thank you all for taking the time to try and explain. At least now I more or less understand what is going on.
whew! thank you for assuring me that you did not do this.
