Adding pokestops in small villages The Netherlands

Since May, I’ve been actively playing Pokémon GO again, reaching level 37 and starting to contribute by submitting new PokéStops in my local village. As the area mainly consists of houses and farms, with few sports facilities or public spaces, most potential Points of Interest are “Wayside crosses” or locations along the main road—many of which are already in the game.

Lately, we’ve been walking around a lot, and I’ve compiled a list of possible new submissions that I wish to make. However, some of these would fall into the same level 17 cell as an existing stop if the current stop isn’t placed properly, while others I’m unsure about in terms of meeting the community guidelines. Could you help me evaluate these options before I submit them? I really need help in keeping Pokémon GO engaging for the players who are still active in our village and similar villages around us.

  1. The existing POI “De oude pastorie”currently sits in cell F. This cell also hosts the church. Moving the POI to cell C (I believe a part of the building still falls in this level 17 cell, though difficult to judge) preserves the existing stop and allows a new POI to be made for the church in F. Is this allowed and a good decision?

  2. Exisiting POI “De Heerenhof (19e eeuw)” is currently placed in cell E or cell F. However parts of the building fall in A, B, D and E. By relocating the pin to the left side of the building in cell D, the current stop can be preserved, and a new POI can be added at the sculpture in its community garden in cell E. It’s a big adjustment so how best to go about it?

Please note that the pokestops may seem to already fall in different level 17 cells, but that when you zoom in on the map, this is not in fact te case!

I believe helping me judge these adjustments is worthwhile as it would create two new poke-stops in our community. I have made pins of where I wish to have them all.

Moving Wayspots from an already correct location is not allowed

In the 1st situation that would be the case. But obstructs the posibility to make a new one. So I was wondering if wayfer could do it?

In the 2nd situation the building is marked wrong and should be moved.

As @kawin240 already stated moving a wayspot from the correct location to another location is abuse and could lead to senctions taken on your account.

As for other ideas for nominations (I live in The Netherlands as well) try to find your local hiking trail. I have submitted lots of stickers, poles, junction points that really populated my area. I went from being rural to if I can call it myself a little paradise.

Anything is possible.

Waypoints should be pinned at the “natural approach”. Looks like it is mostly buildings so these should be pinned at the entrance.

Thanks @AMG7070! @kawin240 point was duly noted and I know not to move any buildings by myself now. So I won’t. However a local ambassador told me to take this change to the forum. I thought that he said that, so that wayfair moderators could take this under review, so that I obviously don’t run the risk of getting banned. But I guess it won’t. Hence I will forget about situation 1.

The extra info from @slimboyfat71 of waypoints having to be pinned at the “natural approach”, changes the perspective entirely in the case of situation 2. Because it’s actually in the cell below E or in D at the house entrance. Do you think this edit will ban me? The pink orange dot is the wall of the church and there is no entrance there.

Typically we have these “knopen lopen” markers in the area. But they will constantly be the same. Is this what I could submit @AMG7070 ?

And what about this already existing POI. There are at least three more of them in our village that are not POI. The only difference on the picture is the “you are here” arrow… and that it is in a different spot. Is it worth while to add them to our paradise or not the way to go?

These points are great for exploration and are acceptable because of that. Do make sure to give a link in the supporting info about the official route and give a good description on what you can find on the route.

Do note that they might get rejected by the community since they find these “not unique”, but an appeal will fix that issue.

Will edit an example here.

This is one accepted by the community (all these stickers look the same) and is an existing pokestop.

And this is one that got rejected by the community as apparently being “not permanent/unique” and “fake”, but got accepted on appeal and is now an existing powerspot near my homelocation.

Nice, thank you! We also have routes supported with a yellow, red, black pole sticking in the ground. I guess those markers won’t get accepted right?

If it is a official route which you can support with a link to the route then they can be acceptable. But if it is no official route, unfortunately not.

I’d like your opinion on a memorial crossway that I withdrew because I wasn’t sure if it meets the guidelines. The cross is located in a park and is easily accessible. Although it is a memorial cross, no one is actually buried there. It was placed by the community and the family to honor an important person from the village, though he isn’t historically well-known beyond the local community. Aside from its commemorative purpose, the location resembles the type of crossway that is often accepted in Pogo. Would a nomination like this be considered acceptable?

I think this one is interesting and tricky.

I’ll try and give how my personal thinking goes on this.

Parks can typically have objects with simple memorial plaques about the person. Those simple plaques for someone not notable don’t make the object eligible. So a plaque on a simple bench, or under a tree is not something I would consider as meeting criteria.

So, the plaque alone does not seem ( as far as I can tell as I don’t read Dutch) to make this eligible. But you do say the person was well known locally, and there is clearly a story to tell especially as to why this is in a park. The object itself appears to be distinctive and have some artistic merit. I am unaware if there is any particular cultural significance of objects like this in your area.
I think it is reasonable to submit this focus on those aspects of the criteria about why this is locally significant culturally relevant and the artistic value of the object. Try to address the question - why would someone want to go and look at this?

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply to this. As you may have noticed I lost touch with the topic for a while.

In our region we call these places “veldkruis”. A wayside cross or field cross is a memorial commonly found in Catholic regions at the intersection of roads and streets. I live in Limburg where they are almost in every village. All of them are stops in Pokémon Go. So in that sense I know it will be accepted.
The forum and niantic guidelines state: Sensitive locations such as funeral homes, burial grounds, cemeteries, and graveyards should generally be avoided out of respect, but gravestones belonging to historical figures or significant community figures can be eligible if the nominator provides evidence for their historical importance.

So this specific waycross mentions that somebody died there. He is not buried in that spot of course. So it has me worried it might not meet guidelines because its a sensitive location.

But if I have to answer your question: why would someone want to go and look at this?

The village inhabitants literally paid to have this placed as a memorial for this community member. So surely they want him to be remembered the cross to be looked at? So why not accept it?
