Pokestop nomination - a bug or am I missing something?

Hello,

I am currently dealing with a (potential) bug related to the submission of new PokéStops within the Wayfarer program. The Pokémon GO map rules are set so that only one in-game object—either a PokéStop or a Gym—can exist in each S2 Level 17 cell. In our area, there is one Level 17 cell where there is no PokéStop or Gym.

For a long time, there was only one Wayspot in this cell (I am not sure whether it used to be a PokéStop that was removed, or whether it is a Wayspot originating from another game within Ingress). This Wayspot currently functions as an occasional Max Spot. Recently, the local community created a second Wayspot (it was approved through the Wayfarer Program and accepted by the community).

If we now look at Ingress, both POIs are correctly displayed there (meaning there are now two Wayspots within the same S2 Level 17 cell). However, no PokéStop has appeared in Pokémon GO within this cell.

Does this mean that the cell is “dead” and it is no longer possible to create a PokéStop there? Or is this a bug where a PokéStop cannot be created because the new Wayspot is not the “first” Wayspot in the cell? Or am I missing some crucial piece of information that explains why a PokéStop cannot be created in this cell?

We would appreciate feedback and a well-supported explanation so that we can help support the development of our local community.

If it helps I can be more specific which exact S2 Level 17 cell it is…

Thank you everyone in advance for reasonable discussion/feedback

Hi @MrAveril
Welcome to the forum :hugs:
My guess is that you’ve missed the separation of Ingress and Pokémon Go (they’re diffrent companies now).
So if you’ve submitted through ingress you need to do the same through Pokémon Go or the new web-submission feature on your wayfarer site.

Hi Alice, thank you for the response. If I wasn’t clear enough, let me clarify. The nomination was submitted via a web browser at https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com, just like the other nominations we propose within the community. It is not my nomination directly, but a nomination made by a friend from the community.

Indeed that wasn’t clear for me because you phrased it in way that you’d expect wayspots showing on the ingress map as pokestops as well :hugs:
But if your friend although has submitted through wayfarer and it already has been accepted (> 48h) than please give us the coordinates. Here’re some users able to have a better look at the current situation

Sure thing - thank you in advance:

Coordinates: 50.06984774647235, 14.459406709828562
This is the cell in question:

There should be two Wayspots:

  1. “Neužilová architekt” - the aforementioned “Max Spot”
  2. “Šmoula s lopatičkou” - recently (but more than 48 hours) approved new Wayspot

Thank you in advance to anyone for a response.

I only see one Wayspot in this cell.

Was the other one an imported max spot? Those are not eligible to be used as stops or gyms and do not indicate that the cell is bugged if it isn’t one.

Hello, thank you for your time. To be honest, I don’t know if this is an imported Max spot - I only see it as an active Wayspot within the given cell (e.g. when proposing a new pokestop).

Anyway, new update: As soon as I started this thread and we started discussing here - the mentioned pokestop newly appeared on the map about 5 minutes ago (= now everything is correct) - after about 5 days since approval. Could it be a coincidence?

Please can we close the thread and thank everyone for your time and responses.

Thanks for the update, glad to know you can enjoy the Pokestop.

We normally just leave them open in case you have any follow up. But if you are sure you want it closed we can do.

I hoped maybe you were just a little too soon for today’s sync, but wasn’t certain =)

This topic discusses the differences between imports that can only be used as Power Spots and
other Wayspots which can be used as stops and gyms if you are interested. Will a Power Spot be considered a duplicate if nominated?
