Topic is a little clickbait ofc but thank you for your attention. I’m pretty unexperienced player - since 2020, but actually in october 2025 i was 34 lvl (now 49). Lack of pokestops in my area was one of things that blocked me from improving my acc back then (as i was always missing pokeballs). Nowdays i’m more active and i’m trying to improve my living area by submiting new POIs - 2 of them got recently accepted, and 1 today got added to pokemon go (yay!) but i would like to ask you if i can change localation of accepted POI? I marked area that is 50+m wide in it’s center but it seems like it might be too close to existing pokestop. I didn’t know about that before searching at reddit and other forums “why” it’s not in game after acception. It seems like it has it’s own cell. Thank you for your help in advance!
Greetings
Once a wayspot exists, the location can be moved to a better location. For example, if a football field has the wayspot in the midde, it would be better on the edge or behind a goal.
It is considered abuse to move a wayspot purely to make it appear in Pokemon Go. So if it is in a good location and you want to move it to a just-as-good location, this is not allowed and risks a sanction for abuse.
I had a look at this and the distance is such that it may be selected to be a Powerspot.
If that happened it would open up a different kind of play in your area.
Would be nice, but at this estate (and part of the town) we are lacking of pokestops/gyms more than powerspots. There are like 2-3 powerspots in area and only 2 pokestops (and 1 gym).
I got excited when it got “accepted” but i forgot that it doesn’t mean it will be added at all
Welcome and congratulations on getting your nominations accepted - it shows you have a good eye for what can make a great waypoint.
As already mentioned, it can be risky requesting a move, especially when that move makes it appear in game when it previously wasn’t. If the location is on the object, you’d have to be able to prove that where you want to move it to makes sense and isn’t just to get it to appear in Pogo. I appreciate this is frustrating, because if you’d originally nominated it with the pin on the object but away from the centre so it was in a unique cell, no-one would have batted an eyelid.
You’ve learned about the cells faster than I did - use that knowledge to your advantage and go out looking for more things to nominate in free cells. I tend to go out on walks specifically to look for nominations now in cell areas where I know we don’t have many stops, or are only 1 or 2 stops away from a new gym. Look all around you, high and low. If you see something and think “what’s that?” Google it and try to find out if it’s something with a cool backstory. If it’s boring infrastructure move on… but sometimes even that can be used (eg in my area there’s a local Geocaching trail and a load of GPO markers are objects on the trail to find, so we’ve ended up with some of those in game as trail markers under the exercise criteria). If you have any new housing estates being built, go and look for new playgrounds as most new estates have at least 1 these days. Look for listed buildings in your area then go and visit them - if they aren’t SFPRP they can be a great nomination. Have a look for cool artwork in/next to businesses. A lot of care homes have communal gardens with a nice water feature - they’re quite nice to go in the game. If you have a zoo/farm park/museum etc see if any of the individual displays might make a good nomination? Google the history of your town/village/city and see if there’s anything cool in its history - then see if anything still exists. In my town there’s a bridge on the way in called the “Swooning Bridge” - named this because prisoners being led to the gallows or to be hung were walked in that way, and that was the first point they could see their fate, often leading to people fainting. At the bridge itself, you can see names and dates carved into the wall going back to the 1700’s! This made a very cool stop as it taught people the history too. Look for memorial trees (loads were planted as part of the Queen’s Canopy project around 2012 I believe) as I find these easier to get in than benches - but look for those too. Find out who the person was and if they were significant locally, put that information in your nom. I read a discussion on here about “pocket parks” and have since managed to get a few green spaces into the game. If you have a decent green space, and people use it (look for evidence of this such as goal posts left out, picnic benches, dog poo bins to show it’s an area frequented by dog walkers - you often have to appeal these to get them approved as I always find reviewers see temporary goal posts and reject saying temporary or seasonal even if you put a note in to say you are nominating the park not the goal, they are simply evidence of how the area is used). Find local walking trails and walk them - there’s often things to nominate on the routes!
Good luck in your searching - I’m always amazed at how many things I can still find to nominate, even in areas I’ve walked a million times before.
You should learn about s2 cells . So you can plan ahead if you need pokestop/powerspot in certain area. While its considered abuse to move wayspot just to make it appear in pokemon go, there are certain condition that allow you to pick location.
Below is example. Assuming C and D is already pokestop, Submitting it at A will create pokestop while submitting it at B will create powerspot.
Thank you for your kind words, and I very much appreciate your tips! I sent that point before learning about cells, so it was more luck than knowledge, but at Wayfarer, map cells are visible (a little bugged), so it also helps. In my area, there are still like two more places I want to “add” (one is “in queue,” the second is waiting for a good moment to take photos as it’s usually very crowded there ;D)
Once again thank you very much
I recently found a website with a map showing the cells on it. I don’t think we can share links to things like that in here, but this particular map doesn’t use scanning apps to update it - actual players manually add things to the map to keep it up to date so that it doesn’t violate TOS. If you can find something like that, it might help you. It might not be dead on accurate, but it should be pretty close. I’m actually enjoying using that one as you can add details about routes on there, log what level your gym badge medal is for the gym, add power spots and probably loads of other stuff I haven’t discovered yet. I would definitely prefer an official S2 map to use - but I can’t see that happening anytime soon if at all.
if you want an accurate map that actually shows the cells on the real wayfarer map, do a google search for “wayfarer tools” - there is also link to join the wayfarer discussion discord there, too if you need help with it. the wayfarer discussion discord is a group passionate about wayfarer that abhors abuse, fyi.
