Allotments - UK eligble?

Hi all, me again (sorry),

Just wondered on the eligibility criteria for allotments in the uk. They’re gardens that people can apply for and anyone can apply. Thought it would have been a good nomination.

The ones I’ve submitting, the automated rejection really wasnt having any of it, so ive had to nominate them many times countless times, until finally I found an angle/ cropped image that got pass the ai. (I hate this thing)

Then, it got added to one of those random niantic reviews that they do from time to time so I thought they would accept it (I have shown a screenshot of this)

Am I being silly? Are they not eligible?

Thank you.

I have seen people submit allotment and got approved. They are fit socialize category. Dont be discouraged by AI rejection. Wait till staff finish review it.

Staff rejected it! Said it wasn’t unique/ significant. Shown in the screenshot, which is why im questioning it

If you disagree with the rejection, the formal procedure is to appeal or resubmit with better information. Personally i think the allotment is eligible.

Anyway dont be discouraged with rejection. You can try improving your nomination. Frankly the foto doesnt show much. You could improve it

And that I will, but will it make a difference knowing a staff has already rejected it?

Staff are just human. Anyway what make nomination eligible is not only the object. Think of it like presentation. We have seen cases where we got rejection overturned by appeal

Also I have tried many times with the photo. More of the surrounding/ less, they all get rejected automatically.

Unfortunately this nomination seems like something that might need appeal because the allotment sign might look like just warning sign.

I’ll appeal it once I have some appeals back but I’m sure ill be back on here asking for it to be overturned!

Thank you.

This should have been accepted by the staff reviewer in my opinion. Please appeal it, and if that is rejected, come back and post it again. I had trouble with them too, but they are a great place to exercise and socialise, and are very important to the community.

Good to see it got through the appeal. Gives me hope, that’s for sure! Thank you for sharing that.

Will appeal it. Should i appeal both entrances? Or just one? I know multiple entrances can be eligible if its a large park, but technically this isnt a park, but it is quite large.

Thanks again!

In my opinion no. For bigger park, each entrance might have unique feature on its own. This allotment entrance doesnt seems to have one. In fact its quite bland.

I would appeal the one you feel is strongest.

UK Allotments definitely meet the Social criteria element and are safely accessible for the people who are allowed to be there. Scopely Explore have never demonstrated an understanding of UK allotments and reviewers have often been reluctant to approve them.

A large allotment site might deserve multiple wayspots for its different entrances, but it really depends on the size.

I suppose that both entrances are close and on the same road, so possibly no point in doing both. (As marked purple on this screenshot)

Those entrances are over 100m apart, so could both be wayspots. However, the northern one has a wayspot for an information board just inside the entrance, so I would concentrate on the southern one.

Personally I would concentrate on getting 1 approved, given they’re off the same road. Hard to show they’re distinct off the same road. Not saying trying both is bad, just harder. I would check though - are there any community notice boards or seed/plant sharing boxes inside? That would be a better 2nd option.

Ive recently got the noticeboard accepted. There is another noticeboard but very old and made from like a sort of wood, so would most likely get rejected (knowing my luck).

I mean, I could potentially appeal the entrance that couldn’t get through the auto rejection, and re nominate the other that did go through to see if other people accept or reject it. No harm in trying both.

Thanks!

Yes allotments are a definite. I usually waffle on about promoting social cohesion in the supporting information. Exercise and socialise.

They do meet exercise as well, since gardening does count, but it’s easier to focus on the social aspect
