Rejected by Emily :face_with_steam_from_nose: . Looking back I see that the image is not going to win any awards…

Would you recommend Appeal (I have both available) or re-submit.

If Appeal any suggestions on appeal notes?

If Re-submit any suggestions as well as new image?

Thanks

I would appeal and see what the appeal reviewers have to say about it. ML often struggles with allotments, but I’ve had success getting them approved by appeal reviewers.

There was a clarification on the old forum that whilst signs are generally preferred for allotments, they’re not required so long as there’s proof that the site is used as allotments.

I have sent the appeal, will await reply then re-image and re-submit if required.

Thanks

I find it interesting that allotments get rejected often, but I haven’t had an issue submitting any community gardens here in the US. Allotments are basically community gardens, just by a different name.

Hope the appeal goes through!

Allotments can be surprisingly difficult to get through in the UK. Reviewers seem to like rejecting them as private property, as a natural feature (back when that was a rejection reason), or just not interesting enough to meet criteria. The appeals team has not been any better.

Definately worth an appeal……as long as submission is reasonable allotments should be getting positive votes. And it looks like you have a notice board too. :woman_facepalming:

Appeal rejected.

Once the weather improves and my foot stop giving me pain I will go down and take a better image then re-submit…

Maybe staff will take another look at it. It doesn’t look like a bad submission at all.

Don’t think the image is great, should have gotten closer and taken it through the gaps in the gate, would have been easier to identify as an Allotment.

Another one where a better refusal reason especially for appeals. I mentioned the image and asked if they could confirm this was the reason to reject. Just got the standard “Appeal Rejected”.

Can’t win them all, will try again when I can get a better images…

I have been back today and realised that these are not the best organised and tidy allotments I have seen and the lay of the land doesn’t help get a decent image :frowning: . So I have taken…

  • 1 stood at the gate looking past the wire.
  • 1 of the notice board that has the Allotment Society’s name and shop prices on the papers.
  • A couple from down the side that show the allotments a little better but as the waypoint should be at the entrance they are about 50 metres away.

Question 1: Which should I use as the main image?
Question 2: Should I make a montage of the others for supplemental?

Thanks

I have gone with the noticeboard previously.
As you say some allotments are very practical places not always photogenic.

When there’s a noticeboard and you’re not trying to get separate wayspots for the board and the allotments, definitely use the noticeboard.

The noticeboard is a very simple affair, no branding.

Couple of weather faded papers inside that do mention Allotments.

Its like the guys down there don’t want to help, least I expected was then holding their spades aloft as a Guard of Honour (should that be a “Garden of Honour”). Alright, I will get me coat…

Quick accept as soon as it went in to Voting

Good result :+1:
