- Wayspot Title: Emma and the Silk Train
- Location (lat/lon): 49.224952, -123.159056
- City: Vancouver
- Country: Canada
This feature is a city-maintained “Reading Lights” plaque associated with Vancouver Public Library.
It is indexed on their website here: https://www.vpl.ca/readinglights/emma-and-silk-train
I have attached a current photo as of today.
I don’t know why it was deleted, but for five years it was a popular “ex-gym” in pokemon go. Unfortunately, the gym has now moved out of the park and into the middle of a bike path which is much less suitable for hosting groups of players. It would be great if things could be set back as they were yesterday.
Thanks!

Whilst the wayfarer team do have the power to reinstate removed wayspots, they do not have any control over how they’re used in individual games. Therefore, if this is restored, it will likely reappear as a Pokéstop and not as a Gym, as you stated that another Gym was created in this Level 14 S2 Cell when this wayspot was removed.
Hi Hank,
I feared that might be the case - that it might not come back as a gym - but I still hope to be mistaken. The new location is clearly inferior, and to tie the reviewers hands would invite malicious deletions specifically to move gyms.
It’s been a couple days, and perfection being the enemy of good-enough, I think it’s possible this appeal has gotten lost. To clarify:
If you can restore the gym, then please do that.
But, if you can only restore the POI, then please do that.
Emma and the Silk Train anchored some of the earliest routes in pokemon go, created hours after the feature went live for L50 players. There were literally thousands of community trips on it, and it’d be a shame to lose all that if I have to renominate it from scratch.
Thanks again!
