as a wayspot and it got rejected by the automated process. Initially I thought that was because of the words ‘security camera’, making the automated process flag it as me trying to submit an actual security camera. So I appealed and it got rejected again. The response was as such:
“Thanks for the appeal, Wayfinder! The nomination in question does not meet the Wayfarer criteria as it is a normal art, which has no significance. We recommend you review the Wayspot Criteria and Forum Criteria Discussions Library sections before submitting your next Wayspot contribution.”
I am confused about what makes this normal art with no significance. I think it is unique and a very fun piece of art to explore since a lot of people walk past, never noticing it because they don’t look up. The artist is also not insignificant, with a big international following and some very cool work.
Hi,
It would be useful to see the original submission and the appeal text.
Did you put links like this in your original or appeal.
I love street art cities they curate some really good work, and this looks like an interesting piece.
With works of art like this I always try to provide a link to allow reviewers and the appeal staff to establish its validity, along with anything else that the artist wanted to convey in their artwork. Without providing that it is not always easy to establish if something is genuine.
This is a very difficult object to photograph and present. I had a wire sculpture that was very difficult to get a good angle on it so it could be seen.
As a tip I would try to zoom in as much as possible and I think the angle of the supplementary shows it up better. You should aim to get the object dominating the photo rather than the wall.
I see. I will include links as much as possible going forward then. Thank you.
And yes, they’re very tricky! I tried to zoom in as much as possible without the photo getting too grainy and this was as much as I could do with my phone. Next time I shall bring my camera and try the angle you suggested Thank you for the help!
Good luck. There is a chance that Niantic staff will see this thread and comment, preferably with a reversal of the appeal rejection. since this is one of those painful “just an abc” insertions when the appeal reviewer decides to reject and has to pick a label to give the submission, without realising that a unique piece of art is significant.
People have posted worse appeal decisions, but this seems fairly high up there (pun intended).
It is possible there is something wrong with your submission and the appeal reviewer just picked the wrong explanation.
That’s an awesome result! Good job!
I no longer submit waystations as the "Auto system’ has always knocked them back, and then on appeal i’m always told to read the criteria…
Glad you got one thru! (i’m inspired to create a post for some of mine too.. I’d at least like 'helpful comments as to why it got knocked back, not the generic BS)
If you are getting rejected, don’t understand why and want to know what mistakes you are getting in order to improve and get eligible wayspots accepted, please post details here so you can get advice.
Aw, yeah, it is very discouraging when it happens a lot I actually just got another generic reject again and I’m having the feeling of ‘why do I bother’ . I hope making some posts can shed some light on your rejects and hopefully get some approved!
