Just was curious if Little Free Libraries are still allowed, because I had 3 LFL Pokestops near me and all got removed suddenly a couple days ago. They have been up for some time. Just wanted to ask because I was thinking of nominated one I found but wanted to make sure. I’ve also seen some talk on the Discord but didn’t read much.
Little free libraries can make good submissions if they’re not on single family private residential property - but they often are. I assume the removed ones were in people’s gardens?
If you are happy to post the locations we can take a look and confirm if SFPRP is the most likely reason.
If they are not on SFPRP they could have been a Property Owner Request especially if they where all in the same location (such as a park).
The topic has been clarified here
Let us know what you have understood from what you’ve read.
Yes, depending on location (as above). There’s even three in the current tutorial: one yes, one no, and one “almost but the access is unsafe” (placed where using the library would require standing in the road).
Hey @Nj0820
LFL’s are defenitely allowed if not on single family private property (SFPRP) like said by the others.
I have reported the LFL’s in your area, because they were clearly not on public propery. And the reports were accepted, hence they were removed.
Nah, just on normal neighborhood property
Uhm, how you know where my area is ![]()
You posted your area in the other topic about the burnt bridge crest wayspot.
I had taken a look to see how the area was looking there, I am always curious how other people experience the game.
And then I saw the ineligible LFL’s and reported them.
Hope that clarifies it.
Oh, in that case, one of the LFLs were on neighborhood clubhouse property, is that not allowed? Because I have seen clubhouses themselves be Pokestops.
That sounds like it was eligible, you can use Help Chat to request its return or post the details in “Wayspot Appeals”.
Remember the team agreed with the report so I assume it looks like SFPRP so you will need to bring evidence. Is the Clubhouse labelled as such on any maps? Are there any signs at the property.
Good Luck.
Even if that library would be on SFPRP, i dont see the issue. (I know its against the rules, no need to point it out.) That library is clearly meant for the public to use, otherwise it would be in the house and not on the street.
Sadly, it is unclear why the rule was implemented. I assume it was due to people showig up to someone’s house, and that getting reported, but i dont think there ever was a public statement.
There was a legal case some years ago and as part of the resolution, Niantic had to take steps to prevent people playing on SFPRP. The rule is clear - nothing on SFPRP including the external boundary. It makes no difference just because something is intended to be used by/seen by the public. or if the owner has said people are allowed to go there.
With the research that I did and help of the wayspot picture I concluded them all to be on SFPRP.
If one of them is on clubhouse property you could use Wayspot Appeals section to appeal the removal with evidence that the removal was incorrect.
For now the removals were accepted and I will stand corrected if it were on Clubhouse property.
Good luck.
There is also a massive difference between 1 or 2 people visiting to swap a book and 40 PoGo players come to Raid.
Let’s be honest, it’s not usually hard to identify a group of PoGo players, I love that they arrive as I am usually playing solo and need them so I can jump on their raids but I don’t think I would invite them all round to my house ![]()
