Can someone help me move the location of this Pokestop?

It’s this pokestop. It needs to be moved outside of the grey ring and I seemed to misplace it or it was moved by the community. It makes more sense to have the location set closer to the parking lot as well.

Please provide:

  • A screenshot of your nomination, including rejection reasons if it has already been rejected
  • Include the title, description, both photos, and supplemental information
  • Copy and paste the title, description and supplemental so others can translate them
  • If you feel comfortable please share the location, as it is helpful (i.e. hidden duplicates), but you can mask it if you wish.

Why does it need to be moved? It looks correctly placed as far as I can tell. Moving the pin away from the real life object for game manipulation is abuse.

It’s not correctly placed currently.

Okay then you can use help chat if the real life location is wrong. Go to the help menu Niantic Wayfarer and a text bubble will pop up. A bot will get information but a real person will look at the request. Geotagged photos proving the move will help them. Do not do this or mention doing this for game location reasons.

Okay, thank you.

It should be placed on the building where that sign . That would be the correct real world location.

From the roof line on the picture I’m guessing the “most correct” location assuming it needs to be on the sign is this X

However, do we agree it has to be on the sign?

The new location mentioned would be no more or less accurate than the current location, so I don’t think its abuse to move this since it isnt by the sign anyway and the building likely has one or more entrances that would make suitable locations too

There could be a door that side so maybe the new cell option is actually an improvement and a sensible location, assuming also that the sign is the marker for the whole building in which case to me, either the sign, the door, or really anywhere sensible on the building ie main room would be fine in my opinion

This is a big building, it likely has several locations that are more precise than the current one.

And here is the conundrum. Moving from an accurate spot to an equally accurate spot… I’ve been told that this is frowned on by Niantic and could be considered abuse.

Typically for large nominations, the wayspot should be at the entrance (red box). The sign in the photo is in the blue box.

I would argue that the placement is fairly close to correct, but should be a little bit more towards the entrance.

As I review, if I saw that nomination anywhere on the building I would accept it. If I saw the pin away from the building in a misrepresenting location, I would move it to the sign because that’s what the photo is of.

Makes sense yeah, and I definitely agree that I would accept anywhere on the building during review.

I hate that this is their view because no one who doesnt visit this forum would know that, and it doesnt make logical sense either

I would absolutely hate for someone to get banned because they moved something 2 metres across a 30 metre wide building to allow something else to pop up in their preferred game. To me that sort of edit helps people and doesnt hurt anyone.

I of course dont agree that moving something away from the item is okay, but large things with lots of options for accurate placement, I dont see why that should get anyone banned

Ooh you actually found the building? Nice, I was just looking at the screenshot provided.

For what it’s worth, it can hurt people. Maybe it makes a POI unaccessible for a local because now it’s too far from the sidewalk, now being in the back of the building. Maybe a re-sync happens and now it’s ineligible for a different Niantic product. Or a beloved gym de-syncs, Ingress links get broken (I don’t think that happens any more), etc.

As a generalization, I agree with you, and the “hurt” may be less than the benefits, but I don’t think it’s for nothing to consider the can be ill effects.

And then players of other games also start moving that wayspot along that building in a way that benefits their game, and either the person who originally moved it loses their hard-won wayspot of choice again, either we just end up in this endless tug of war of back and forth moves.

This is not very sustainable
