Can’t withdraw submission

Hello I can’t withdraw a submission, Bolton Falls submitted 9/7/2024 in Pokemon Go. I need to withdraw so I can modify the submission.

Bug Reports should include the following and any additional information you feel is necessary to aid in the investigation of the bug.

  • Description of the issue
  • Date first (or most recently) experienced
  • Device type, model, and operating system
  • Game & Game Version (if applicable)

Hello and welcome,

You can edit, hold, or withdraw a nomination via Contribution Management:

https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/nominations

If the nomination is already in voting, you’ve missed your opportunity to withdraw or edit it.

They submitted it today, so highly unlikely it’s in voting, due to the 24 hours ML has to look at it. Today is Sept 7th, 2024, or 9/7/2024.

Yea I submitted today and tagged as upgrade next. But I’m getting an error when I try to withdraw.

errorUnable to withdraw submission. (E5)

If you marked the nomination to “Upgrade Next” then you cannot withdraw it. But you can turn “Automatically apply upgrades” to “Off” in settings so you can manually upgrade something else.

I am not sure if you can also put it on “Hold” even if it has been marked upgrade next to make sure it doesn’t go into voting, but I would try that. Let me know if you can so I will know for next time.

Yes that is because of marking it “Upgrade next” - I guessed right =)

I changed my settings to auto upgrades off and nothing is any different? I can’t nominate any other change I’ve submitted and I can’t withdraw the one I’m trying to.

Right. You cannot withdraw this. “Upgrade next” doesn’t do anything until you earn an “Upgrade”

If the “Upgrade” button is greyed out, then you don’t have one available.

Ok I just changed the description and title to ERROR DO NOT VOTE YES, hopefully that works.

Why not just put it on “Hold” so that it does not go into voting? Does it allow you to put it on “Hold”?

BTW, I am glad you brought this up in this category. This is definitely a bug that should be addressed. I am just trying to help you work around it.

That type of edit could be seen as you trying to nominate something fake, or influencing reviewers, which may both be looked at as abusive.

I agree with holding the nomination instead, and then resubmitting.

Oh, yes! I wasn’t clear. Go ahead and make the submission correctly @Sregnar35 . The wrong one doesn’t have to decided before you submit the correct one.

There is no hold option.

Thanks for checking. I didn’t have anything I could test it on.

Doh! I knew this in March

My only option appears to be naming the contribution as error do not vote and hope niantic removes it.

What’s the issue with it? I would strongly recommend against letting it go into voting with text that directly references the voting process, as said above people might misunderstand this as abuse.

Maybe if you can share the nomination we can either quickly suggest how to fix it to a point where it can be let into voting (it’s fine if people/ML reject it), or if we collectively agree that it’s really not something that should be released and have good arguments for that, you can ask help chat to take it out of voting for you?

I agree that overall it is an issue that needs to be addressed.

And welcome to the forum, by the way!

I sent Niantic support a message and within an hour they denied the waypoint submission. That seems like the only way to fix these. Thanks for the help though!

Glad to hear they did it. Probably the best way to go about it for now.
