Can't withdraw contribution

I get the following error:

Unable to withdraw submission.(E5)

This occurred on both Samsung Galaxy Fold4 and Dell laptop through the Chrome browser.

Is your nomination already in voting?

Do you have this marked to “Upgrade Next”? Those can’t be withdrawn, even if not in voting.

Wait so we can’t withdraw if we marked “Upgrade next”? The site didn’t tell me that.

I don’t believe anyone has ever accused Niantic of communicating clearly.

I am not sure they know this happens. I do see records of Niantic replying about E5 error reports as far back as June 2022 and seemed to be an old issue then:
