Can the better wayspot be made into a pokestop?

Hey there! I’ve been submitting a BUNCH of POIs and thankfully all the ones I submitted at the new fitness trail my town created have been approved! The sync happened and all of the approved POIs have appeared as Pokestops… except for one. And it’s unfortunately the most interesting POI in the entire park :sob: All the other POIs are fitness stations, a playground set, and a picnic shelter. I’m sad that this iconic and nostalgic climbing sculpture didn’t make it into the game and I was wondering if there was a way to get the PoGo crew to prioritize it over the other wayspot I’m assuming it shares an S2 cell with.

I know the spot isn’t just waiting to be synced in because another POI that got accepted after that one has already appeared in the game as a pokestop. The inchworm sculpture is pretty close to a fitness station, so I’m assuming it hasn’t appeared because of the proximity to the POI that was approved before it.

Is there a way to request that the inchworm sculpture can get priority and appear as a pokestop in the game? I wouldn’t mind sacrificing the fitness station POI to make that happen if I have to do that.

Here’s a photo of the inchworm! It was recently restored but it has been at the park since the 70s at least!

Here’s another picture where you can see the fitness station in question right behind it:

Staff would have to confirm but the answer to this has always been no…

For future reference it is always better to get your favourites through first, place others On Hold then release once the best ones are sorted…

Maybe this will get you a Power Spot…

I was afraid of that lol Ah well, thanks for letting me know!

Unfortunately I had to wait for restorations to the sculpture to be completed before I could submit it, so timing was an issue for this one. I’ll have to learn from this lesson for future POI submissions!

Sometimes you just have to be patient when waiting to submit.

But also having a complete fitness trail is pretty cool.
One persons idea of what the “best” wayspot is could be very different to another’s.

Thank you! Yeah, I’m really happy and excited about the new fitness trail! I was in a rush to get all the POIs submitted that I can because I had heard it can take a while for things to get approved, and I was really wanting to get the park populated with pokestops before the grand opening on October 2nd! I’m really happy to say I completed that goal, but I am disappointed that the inchworm sculpture isn’t going to be a waystop we can send gifts from. The fitness stations are great, but that sculpture really is the only truly exciting POI in the park. I think everybody would agree with me on that.

Unused wayspot might become powerspot if its not too close

We did discuss this. I honestly don’t remember what episode it was, but we did discuss it! lol

I had proposed a voting system similar to the photos, but there was a not insignificant number of people who had concerns about groups “fighting” over which Wayspot had the most votes, which I can see absolutely being a concern. It happens with photos now, people fight to keep their photo as the one that’s on the photo disc

I rarely side against a new feature because it might be abused, but the more I think about this, the more I really think it would be ten times worse when it comes to which Wayspot ends up on the map. Especially if you have 2 separate Wayspots that are within spinning range of 2 different people’s houses.

This doesn’t even take into account if one of the Wayspots is a gym and it suddenly vanishes because the other Wayspot got more votes. It becomes an even bigger nightmare if the stop begins to jump between 3 or more Wayspots.

I love the idea, but there would need to be some sort of cooldown between updates. Perhaps once a season, they re-sync the map?

I would love to hear some other ideas on how to make this work without it turning into a dumpster fire

As I am in what seems to be the minority that doesn’t believe that More Stops = Better Game, I once suggested that maybe the 3 Gym / 20 Total should be the maximum in the L14 Cell.

I included the suggestion that new “empty cell” waypoints could knock out current waypoints using an algorithm that removed the cell with the most occupied neighbour cells.

The idea was to spread out the waypoints.

Maybe something similar with the Gyms so they are also spread out. The 3 occupied cells with the least occupied neighbours become the Gyms or maybe 1 in each 3rd of the L14 cell.

I do like the idea that any changes only happened when at longer intervals such as each season.

My only negative is that I like the idea of the town park being a destination for events so not sure how that could be implemented.

Please Note: I am aware this is different from the OPs question but as its about “floating” map changes I thought it was suitable to mention it.

I also don’t expect this to be a serious concern to Niantic, just stating that it Niantic announced it tomorrow I would not be against it.

Ayyy at least it’s making an appearance in Pikmin Bloom! It’s not a mushroom or a flower, but I can still get a postcard from it from time to time!

That’s cool.

Ayyyy what a nice surprise! :sparkles:
