Changing which Wayspot is featured in game

Hi! I’ve been wondering something and I haven’t been able to find an answer so I shall ask it here :slight_smile:

Is it possible for a Niantic team member to change a more ‘generic’ in game Wayspot (asking about Pokémon Go specifically here), in favour of a nearby Wayspot that is a more interesting PoI? For example, if there are two Wayspots near each other, one of them being one of the numerous trail markers and the other being the town’s theatre, but only the trail marker is featured in game, would it be possible for them to make the theatre Wayspot the one that shows up in game instead of the trail marker?

Perhaps what is considered more interesting is objective, but there are quite a few of these instances in my area and it feels like such a waste to not have some beautiful and culturally significant Wayspots be reflected in game. I am much less excited to explore areas where I can only find trail markers that I can see all over town, than when I can explore areas showing art, museums, local shops, etc.

The quick answer is No.

You have basically answered your question with this 1 sentence.

If there are 2 people disagreeing this could be bouncing back and forth.

It would also be abused with people wanting to select the the one that is more convenient to them…

There are many instances of this in town centre where there are places with 4 or 5 places that could be in the game. And yes one persons interesting is another persons boring. There are people in some places who are grateful that they managed to get a live pokestop.
I am happy to accept that there is a random element to this and would find it very complex if it meant losing a gym, or a showcase stop - which could lead to malicious behaviour. It was great when powerspots appeared and used some long lost nominations - I wish they could show the nice photos and descriptions too.
