Like a Domino’s Pizza Tracker! That would be awesome to know where it stands as a submitter, but I am afraid - like @RoIi112 said - that any information about how the queue moves can probably be exploited by abusers. I really hate those people who mess things up for the rest of us.
I don’t think we should let the potential misuse of something hold us back from expressing ideas about what people would like to see improvements on.
It is deeply frustrating to be told that it could take anything from a few days to years (it’s hard to gauge what the longest expected time is with so many changes).
For most wayfinders how long it might take us not easy to find out.
So some sort of indication would be useful for a wayfinder. You might be throwing upgrades at submissions that would resolve quickly anyway, you might need to put an upgrade on it or else it will take a long time.
I don’t think you pointed your comment at anyone in specific, just generally noting pros and cons. I also see pros and cons with this idea.
Keep in mind that Niantic would have to create new code for this, as well as some new display in Contribution Management, and we all know how long it took just to get edits into Contribution Management.
I think if Wayfarers had a better understanding of how long it can take submissions to be decided upon from Niantic, that would be a good first step. Maybe provide this info in the emails, like with the accept emails noting the 48 hours. Maybe note that if there hasn’t been a decision within 24 hours (ML’s typical timeframe), then it’ll go into community review. Then, maybe provide an average timeframe for resolution, both for upgraded and non-upgraded submissions. Maybe even note that voting can take longer in rural areas vs urban.
So, there are ways to start something like this, and better communication in the emails may be a good way to start.
I’m maybe not fresh enough, but what kind of abuse do you think would be possible if you would know your nomination stands at 64%, or is prox. resolved in 116 days?
If you have confirmation that 1 person reviewed it, and the percentage goes up by a certain percentage… youll know how much weight each person has. if the number varies, youll know how ratings affect the weight of each person. This info can help voting rings tremendeously.
Look at it like this: some factions in Ingress in certain areas of the world will purposely vote down good submissions as it would hurt their gameplay, or give an advantage to another faction in their area.
Others submit to help gain an advantage, and if they see progress on voting for a submission, they may ask their local faction members to go vote and get it approved, and it may actually be something that doesn’t meet criteria at all.
Thanks for more than two words (don’t take it bad @RoIi112 )
My imagination don’t reached this. From all reviews I did there were maybe 10 or 20 from my nearer area. Being connected like this was something I never thought of.
