Church Signs vs. Church Entry Points

So apparently most, if not all churches in my town have the church sign as the physical PoGo wayspot/Pokestop instead of the actual church entrance itself.

I could:

1. leave well enough alone and do nothing
2. ask for waypoint edits, several that are over 10m to put the actual location at the church entry point

…it looks like most of these waypoints were added 10+ years ago and that’s the way it was done then, apparently…

Also, most church signs are not a point of interest, but aren’t really eligible for removal criteria.

The inaccuracy of the current church sign waypoints could potentially keep other points of interest from being added to the game (examples added) - one example is that a church bell would be eligible by itself, although it is physically attached to the church sign that currently serves as the church Pokestop.

I don’t want to submit removals for these signs because it would seem like I’m repurposing and that’s not my intent.

I would opt for #2 as the solution, but the Niantic staff might wonder why I’m asking for so many moves/location edits…we have over 15 church Pokestops like this…

That said, I’m asking for advice as to what to do - I’m trying to make the play board clean and correct, so to speak.

Side note: I have nominated several church bells and exterior crosses that did get accepted and placed in the game, so to me it’s worth nominating properly and accurately placed PoI’s.

I see these as wayspots where no correction is needed, personally, if you are taking opinions.

One of the reasons that I asked for more “Signfarer” clarification for the AMA:

Could we get some additional clarification on signs and if individual signs for an eligible POI are also eligible?

This question was inspired by a discussion had here: Many of us will use the signage for an eligi9ble POI in our nominations, as there may not be anything else that is suitable for a main photo, i.e. using a church sign for the church. Many of us then place the location pin on the actual POI and make sure our nominations explain to reviewers as to why the pin was placed where it has been placed. However, because many indistinct signs for elig9ible POIs have been approved and are on the map,…

And this isn’t just for churches, as it can be for businesses. Most of the time, I’m unsuccessful in getting a location edit approved, as most are over 10m and staff doesn’t accept the entrance as the accurate location for the POI, even though most of the photos for the Wayspot are for one of the church entrances, and only 1 for the sign.
