I live in the countryside in a small country and everything that I nominate doesn’t seem to meet the criteria from the view of reviewers. It’s fristrating because we only have a few pokestops and gyms here and I always keep running out of pokeballs because of this. I feel like people who live in bigger cities does not understand that what they think is special and egible should be a bit different in here. Any tips what to nominate in the countryside when I already feel I tried everything and nothing is being accepted? For example, we do not have a single electrical box with art, so I have been trying to nominate the electrical boxes in general and name them different ways. But no one thinks they are egible.
Can you share any examples of what you’ve nominated?
The art is what is a great nomination, it just happens to be on an electrical box so a plain one wouldn’t meet criteria at all, I agree with the reviewers there.
For reference, here’s the electrical box they tried to nominate:
As others were telling you in that thread @BunnyPkmn , nominations need to be a great place to socialise, exercise or explore. I don’t think you’d show anyone a plain electrical box, or go there to socialise or exercise, so it was correctly rejected. I do sympathise that rural areas can be difficult for nominations, but they do still need to meet at least one of those eligibility criteria and no rejection criteria.
Do you perhaps have any walking trails that have trail markers? Those are one of the more common things you can find in rural areas.
There have been some threads discussing rural nominations that may help. Here is the one that is referenced most often:
Please keep your personal safety as a top priority and do not share your home or specific locations to you if you are unable.
But, if you’d like to share your general area, a nearby town or village, or something similar we may be able to spend time scouting for acceptable candidates. Sometimes it takes an outside eye, especially if you’re used to the area and may overlook things that are ordinary to you but actually hold community significance.
thank you, that sounds like a great idea! The town is called Hirvensalo in Finland. There’s fields for farming and for horses and cows too. I tried to nominate those places before but I might try again in summer so I can include the horses and cows in the nomination photos. but the thing is, they do not have a viral name and only thing you’ll see in the google maps is probably an empty land. so it might not look like anything special, but in my opinion it truly is an unique place. If you are lucky, you can even pet those horses if they are feeling friendly. this is one of the things I would like to nominate but I might need some advice how to do it properly. thanks for your help! there is also signs that guides you to rhe bird watching tower, one of those has already been accepted, yay! Although I still would appriciate alot if you/anyone had some time to take a look at the area and have some recommendations for nominations. I know this might be frustrating at first but I feel welcomed here and happy to see that everyone is willing to help with nominations.
Farmland is ineligible, as it’s used to grow crops or raise animals, none of which meets criteria. Further clarification can be found here.
I believe I provided you with the link to Wayspot criteria in the previous thread, and farmland is listed as an ineligible location in the Rejection criteria section.
Animals are also not typically all8wed in photos. The photo guidelines do list not to include them as the focal point for Wayspots. Those guidelines can be found here:
Hello! I do see a few marinas, a public park/beach, a big resort-like area (Meri-Karina?) with banquet halls, a restaurant, and a gym , as well as some new development on Google maps that may hold more playgrounds resembling those already in the housing developments nearby. Meri-Karina’s web site also mentions an “art chapel” nearby, not sure if that’s been nominated at all! I’d avoid nominating farming fields unless they’re also used for organized sport and have sporting infrastructure like goalposts…those farming fields don’t really seem like a great place to explore, exercise, or be social and are more for the business of agriculture. Are there any more trail markers/nature signs in those woods? Is there a playground at 60.39775784799111, 22.229108660299243 (sorry, Google coordinates) - I cannot tell due to the age of the street view in that area?
Overall, this area looks more suburban than truly rural/countryside, at least in my opinion. My home area is suburban, too - so I know it can be frustrating having to travel a bit for spins! It does look like someone’s done a very good job in the past, getting lots of eligible stuff submitted in that area.
I’m getting a couple of different results for Hirvensalo
Could you provide some co ordinates roughly for the centre of the town so we can be sure we have the correct location.
