Does anyone feel like you are working for free?

There has always been ideas from nominators to reviewers how to be rewarded for the work effort…

And yes, sometimes as a volunteer the feeling of doubt comes if it worth the effort doing it for free helping someone else, especially if there is someone else is making profit on it.

I have also had those thought about how you could add in-game bonuses for your efforts as a nominator or reviewer.
But, with those kind of bonus systems ideas mostly ends up with what’s contradicting the greatness to reward someone for the effort - a massive load of false, crappy nominations to review or even worse appearing on the maps.

As a reviewer we do have the contests where we do have rewards for the workload.
And yes, those reward models could be used for your personal review skills as well - not only being granted with nomination upgrades, but also in-game rewards.
Guess the grumpiness will growth, and noise about crappy rewards will be all over the communities.

We do have medals asa reviewer in Ingress and PoGo, and I do like them, and maybe I in that case miss the possibility to have a medal as a nominator as well.

And as @cyndiepooh mentioned, in PoGo, it would be cool to have a shirt/dress showing of your capabilities as a reviewer/nominator, which could be unlocked togheter with your medal. In Ingress a special arrow marker or beacon.

Well, I’m still satisfied 10+ years later since I entered the world of Niantic, and is actively nominating and reviewing and proud to see how much I’ve contributed to the community.

And maybe that’s what you all are missing?, feedback from Niantic giving you attention for your great work? Maybe a mail from Niantic with some nice statistics of your effort for this last quarter or something could be a nice feedback.
I would really appreciate that.

”Hey yido!
Thanks for your great efforts last quarter …
You have contributed and helped the community with:
Nominated … that has been accepted
Reviewed …. nominations that has been accepted
Reviewed …. nominations that has been rejected
:trophy:

Enough said I guess

I stopped reviewing as a crazy person like 2 years ago. Now I just do a few here and there. I agree that the rewards are crap, but my goal was to get the ingress reviewer badge with wings. So yeah, i would still put in lots of time if the rank would count my reviews. But when the review completly stopped, and I still did tons of reviews, my rank dropped to poor. In last 2 years I climbed back to failr so I hope that in next year I climb to tier 3 or 4 so that if goes towards my badge again.

All in all i would put in the time just for a badge… so this is my motivation, but I have blockade hehehhe … so maybe its a good thing.

It does not make sense to you, but it makes sense from the “company” perspective

However, if you enjoy submitting and reviewing wayspots to help fellow players, but feel that it’s “work” and that the “company” is too greedy for accepting both players money and “free work,” another approach could be to continue using Wayfarer but spend less money on micropurchases.

O processo de avaliação é recompensado com a medalha, o que na minha visão é muito pouco.
Como jogador de Ingress, sei que muitos agentes concordam que essa é uma das medalha mais difícil de se conseguir. A baixa recompensa diminui drasticamente nossa motivação.

No I do not see this as a company making me work for free.

I personsly am doing this in order to make a hobbie of mine more enjoable for myself an others and in my case get another Platinum medal badge in POGO.

If anyone is feeling this way i strongly recommend they simply stop reviewing. This will not only help the persons own mental health but to help better train the AI modles that are now being implemented. (the AI Takeover program is a diffrent dicussion)

I would much rarther be finding new stops that are intresting and fun to be finding rarther than boring onces a reviewer as lasely passed through the system.

If your doing anything for Free (or spending money on it) you need to be finding it fun or be gaining value from it. and for most of us volenteers here our value is ‘A better overall gameplay for everyone to enjoy our hobbie’.

If all you want is the relevent games medal then simply stop once you have acceaved the medal. although many on theses fourms will have other valid motives for being here.

Thanks for your input.

Boas ideas  obrigado por o seus comentarios !

Yup, there are lot of noce things the game could do for us, meaning the people who are real and literally take time of out lives to contribute to something sighs that we love, but it should’t be the only rewward, as I stated in the post: they know you like this and no one is making you be part of it, but that is not a reason to tell you just yo get off the game, since no one is making you do it. Thanks for your insights

I just shared my point of view. I thought that other people out there would feel the same as I do about the review system. I can not argue against the: “don’t do it” premise since this is not an obligation at all, and that’s why I stated that in the beginning. However, I do want to have a better system, of course I love the game, but we can’t accept anything from the developers just because we want to say here.

I know plenty of people that share the same view point as you and just see the Wayfairer program as people doing free work for Nianatic.

I happen to Disagree with this point of view and a fourm dedicated to the Niantic Wayfarier pogram im sure isnt gonna to attract the playerbases of specific games that happen to aggree with it.

there are many in my local playerbases that happen to agree with you on this matter and play the game there own way. although they havent bothered to even log into these fourms as this aspect of the game simply doesnt intrest them at all.

In case anyone’s wondering why the OPR Ingress badge is thought to be the hardest one: its 6 levels are 100, 750, 2500, 5000, 10000, and 20000 agreements. At one minute per review (I take longer), the highest level takes 333 hours, or 42 x 8-hr workdays.

If that’s the only benefit you see, it’s easy to get discouraged. But it helps to also see it as personal exploration. And as adding to your and everyone’s gaming experiences.

This is the badge im aiming for. It inspires me. Even though im slowly working towards it, lol.

Dang thats a LOT more than the one for pokemon go! The top level for that one is only 1500… Definitely puts it in a better perspective for a non-ingress player.

technically the 20k tier is a “prestige” level, the badge really only goes up to 10k. But yes, it’s way way more sustained effort than the pogo version.

I never thought there were rewards involved
What I see is that my wayspots that weren´t denied (two), disappeared into thin air without an explanation
and I asked for it
and nobody replied
regardless of reason, I feel there are many rude people around this game, either gamers or company workers, which is sad, because it´s supposed to be a fun and happy game
and I see so many ugly and absurd wayspots(cemeteries, ruins)! But I would never report anyone for that, the more, the better for us

Welcome to the forum @Nb3La !

I see this is your first time visiting the forum, so I am confused. What do you mean by this? Who did you ask what, and where?

It might be that we are getting used to having automatic replies thru our journeys. Glad you do take the time to reply to people.

Hello @Nb3La
If you would like to give us details about the 2 that were accepted but have disappeared we can perhaps help understand what has happened.

I asked Niantic
Through Wayfarer

Oh, did you try help chat? The proper way to appeal a removal of a Wayspot is on the forum in Wayspot Appeals

Maybe we can help you see if you should appeal.
