So i have tried to get a mural in the local pet store approved multiple times, even having an appeal get denied. I spoke with some people on a discord channel who are more knowledgeable than me about nominations and they seem to agree with me that it should/could have been approved. Please help.
It’s located at roughly lat & long. 45.852184,-66.476062 at 1198 Onondaga St in Oromocto, NB.
Title:
Burton Bridge Dog Wash Mural
The description was something along the lines of:
Local artist commissioned to create a mural of the burton bridge with a dog and their owners above the dog wash station.
Supplemental Information something along the lines of:
An interesting mural for pet owners to enjoy while washing their dog or otherwise shopping for their pets. A nice little hidden gem to discover. Thanks for reviewing.
If I had been making this nomination, I would have included their names in the description.
The only issue I would have had with this as a reviewer is if it had access, being inside the wash area. but it does look like it can be accessed from the right side without stepping into the wash.
Searching the artist names brought up a lot of hits about this father/son duo. I didn’t find a link to information about this exact work, but the father does feature it on his Facebook page. And this blurb about them doing art for the stores
This definitely seems to be a commissioned work of art. I hope you will get a new email with a new decision. Unless there is another reason for rejecting that we haven’t seen in this post.
This seems to be a situation like the grocery store Trader Joe’s or even Walmart where they have an artist paint a scene that represents the local area.
If you would like to resubmit, I would add a lot of detail about the artist that Cyndie found the name for in the supplemental. But I’d also describe the bridge that is the subject of the painting in the description.
The reason given in the appeal was a poor choice. Without seeing the whole submission, we don’t know if something else made your submission ineligible. But this is clearly not temporary.
I am not excusing them but maybe reviewers believed that the same art was in all the dog washes and they rejected as Not Distinct. In the same way as all KFCs have the same “Colonel Sanders” art.
OP: As with the advice above state that each artwork is created showing a local scene.
IMO: This should have been accepted so my usual “Good Luck” should not be needed
My observations are that the appeal reviewers will stick with the community decision unless there is an overriding reason to go against it. It looks like they didn’t see one here, so randomly picked “not permanent” from the “not permanent and distinct” rejection and inserted “[the] mural” into the boilerplate response.
OP if you are still able to edit the title for this topic, I would change it to something like Appeal Rejection: Dog Wash Mural so that the title clearly indicates this was appealed.
IDK what happened, but I saw this when i just decided to check on some other things. Thank ypu everyone for your helpful advice, I’ll try to incorporate more of this moving forward.

This waypoint is permanent and unique piece of art, not vandalism. It is publicly accessible, not on private property. It may not be viewable in street view but it can be seen on the website when you look up this store location. Link here: Google Maps
Description
Artwork commissioned by a local artist in the back of a pet supply store. Great piece to enjoy while washing your dog or doing other shopping for your pets.
This waypoint promotes discovery, as the art by a local artist should be appreciated. It is a unique piece that is only found at this store location as it is of a scenic view of a local bridge. Thanks for reviewing.
Hahaha… I’d just gotten done writing 3 paragraphs about the above helpful suggestions you could use to improve and how perfection shouldn’t be expected and how staff does monitor and sometimes overturn decisions.
I’m happy for you! Congratulations!
As a genuine suggestion, I would encourage you to submit an edit to credit the artists and provide some more context about the mural.
